Best gym in the Permian. Good equipment and never too busy

When I started going here I always appreciated the family owned vibe and small crowds but talk about an absolute nosedive in professionalism in recent months. Their treadmills have been broken for almost a year and they absolutely refuse to do anything about it. Their only response is “well we called the guy.” Either they need new treadmills or they need a new guy. One of the workers got a new dog recently and lets it run all over the gym and I nearly dropped a heavy dumbbell on myself when it blew past me. Whoever works at the daycare is also a disgrace because kids freely run around the gym and that’s a serious danger for them and people working out. It’s a shame because they started out so great then they collectively threw in the towel as an organization and it’s so transparent it’s clear they don’t care anymore. I’ve already cancelled my membership and will be taking business elsewhere.

Awesome gym. Great staff. Even when I had an issue, it was very easily resolved with a quick phone call, by very friendly staff. They got everything you need for anyone serious in the bodybuilding or powerlifting scene and its dirt cheap for good the facility is.

i liked how it wasn’t super packed, had a great selection of equipment & the staff was super sweet. the only thing i would say would be better is if they had a fan or some type of cool air in restroom because it was a little hot due to sauna but it wasn’t unbearable or anything. Also it is very clean, observed staff cleaning the entire time i was there. Def recommend 👍

I love this gym moved here from Oklahoma about 2 months ago and started training at Paynes. Can’t say enough great things about the staff and environment at the gym. Everyone is so nice and welcoming and it’s hands down the best gym I’ve been to. I would highly recommend this gym to any wanting to get a real workout and not free pizza at planet fitness!!

Been training here for awhile now and the atmosphere is unmatched. If you are pushing yourself it’ll definitely be recognized. Such a caring gym family and a clean environment. Let’s not forget the helpful and encouraging staff! 10/10 would recommend.

2 star review…My experience at Payne’s Gym has been a mixture of things.On one hand the gym is nice, great trainers, good equipment, clean, organized. Plenty of space and good music. Overall solid vibes.On the other hand the gym has become infested with powerlifters & bodybuilders alike that have sort of taken over sections of the gym. They’ll be shirtless, moaning, grunting, yelling, playing their own loud terrible music, just overall super disrespectful. Not to mention the manager they have now doesn’t help, she’s rude and seems to not care about gym etiquette with their members. I’ve complained before and nothing has changed.Another thing, I’ve tried inviting so many of my female friends to come join me and the ones that do try it out decide not to come back because they get so intimated by the big guys acting immature in there and the other friends that don’t want to come is because they’ve heard that nothing but steroided out guys workout there.

This is the only gym in the Permian Basin that I will frequent on a regular basis. I've driven two hours just to go to this exemplary establishment where like minded individual go to grow and change a certain aspect of their life. Great and knowledgeable staff, extremely clean, and most of the other patreons are kind as well.Definitely in need of some knowledgeable/goal oriented trainers.All-in-all it is the best place to workout in west Texas.

Love this gym. Been a member for several years now. Very friendly staff, clean gym and great equipment. It’s not overly crowded like some of the others full of teens. Love the people and it’s very welcoming. Great owners and management as well.

DO NOT SIGN UP HERE! There is zero professionalism in the staff at this gym. Not welcoming and definitely not pleasant to deal with at all. Not to mention how overpriced they are. After “canceling”my membership I was told I would never get billed again from them. A month later I was notified that I had a balance due of $70.Because of their lack of training I am responsible. Any other gym would’ve been willing to understand the situation and be willing to compromise. No compromise and no understanding at all at this gym.As far as the gym itself… it’s below par at best. After going to this gym for a month I went to another gym. I wouldn’t waist your money or time going to this gym.
