Swenson Gymnasium, located on the second floor of Weber State University, offers a wide variety of facilities including basketball courts, a climbing wall, and both lower and upper running tracks. The gym is well-maintained and known for its cleanliness and friendly, helpful staff. However, the weight lifting equipment is somewhat dated and could use updates.

While patrons appreciate the spacious gym and diverse equipment, there are some concerns. The loud music from cheerleaders during their training can be disruptive, and the cold showers are an area for improvement. Overall, this gym provides a comprehensive fitness experience within a clean and professional environment.

Pros:

  • Variety of equipment
  • Clean facilities
  • Friendly and professional staff
  • Spacious running tracks
  • Well-maintained basketball courts
  • Climbing wall available
  • Not crowded during summer semester
  • Good for indoor track events
  • Outstanding volleyball games
  • Amazing instructors

Cons:

  • Older weight lifting equipment
  • Disruptive music from cheerleaders
  • Cold showers

Always clean when I go in. Never had a negative interaction with staff or patrons. Wide variety of equipment to use. There is a lower track and a upper track to run on.

Very underwhelming in the weight lifting sections. Probably 60-70% of equipment is older or starting to show signs of wearing out. Cardio stuff is good. Idk about the pool. I thought it was going to be a really nice facility. It focuses on the tracks, and basketball courts. Those are nice. It’s just a little underwhelming if you’re looking for weight lifting. Follows the trend of the whole campus. I honestly don’t really know what all the tuition and parking tickets pay for. It’s just a really basic campus, and the gym is no exception.

I love a gym that’s got all the stuff and isn’t crowded (summer semester) that also doesn’t blast pop music from the radio. Points off for the cold showers, but otherwise sublime

Great! Lots of equipment. No mirrors in the main weight lifting areas is the only thing.

The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star rating is because the school's cheerleaders are so disrespectful when they're training in this gym. They blast their music at an insanely high volume which makes it near impossible to use the track or most of the weights area. It is unnecessarily louder than it needs to be.They usually have their stuff strewn out all over the track, and frequently cross right in front of runners or sit/stand right in the middle of the track while it's in use.I think WSU should hold them to the same standards as other patrons. I also pay my dues to use this gym, but if I, or anyone else, were behaving the way they do we would be asked to correct the behavior or leave. It reflects badly on the school and sets a poor precedence that student athletes are exempt from certain standards.

Let's face it. It's all about the teachers. And, every instructor I've had here are amazing people!

An indoor track event was great at this location. Plenty of room on the basketball court to set up with a blanket or folding chair for the day while waiting for our events. If not there for the organized track event, the gym appeared to be well equipped for weight lifting, exercise bikes, and there is a climbing wall.

Jake and Eric (two of the employees of the gym) were so polite and kind when I approached them with questions regarding the gym. The manager Is also very professional. Best well kept gym I’ve been in.

They play wack music when working out. Most of it is never work out music but weird slow depressing old people music. All 4 of their touch screen treadmills broke down and it's been 2 months since any of them have been fixed. These treadmills are my favorite. They are taking away the private work out room. They always show propaganda news FOX news on the t.v.'s and sports channel on every other channel. Someone played Ellen's Game of Games once and everyone enjoyed that but they don't play any interesting shows on t.v.There showers and restrooms are kept real clean. The running track is large and sturdy. Staff are pleasant and greet you often when coming in.
