Filthy!! I told the staff about the elliptical machines and the manager said they will pass it along to the cleaning people when they come in tonight. I asked if she knows what the machines look like right now. She says “yeah I see them every day” and did not offer to send someone to clean it so I can use it! If common sense had a foot….

Walking into Genesis I was immediately greeted by Greg F. who was very helpful in my process of choosing a club. He took me through the entire club and explained every detail. I look forward to getting back into shape knowing there’s a place that’s available and a team that’s ready to help take me to the next level!

First off I do NOT want to blame any of the staff for the below issues. I believe this is a corporate issue, not a local staff issue. The staff is always helpful and willing to go the extra mile, but can only do what their corporate office allows. The gym on the other hand has a few very big issues.1. The air conditioning has been out for almost a month!2. The vents in the wet area in the locker room are not working, for several months. Allowing mold to grow on the ceiling.3. Walls half painted on the floor.

I have been a member of Genesis for over five years now and have utilized almost all their facilities in Omaha and some in the Kansas City area as well (RIP OneLife). In those five years, I have watched every gym they acquired slowly deteriorate to unsanitary and borderline unusable conditions. It's clear their business strategy is to acquire every gym in the area, so there are no other options, but then they do ZERO maintenance on their properties or machines and neglect cleaning to the point their facilities become unsanitary and most of the equipment is broken.Over the past two years, my home gym has been the Midtown location. When they first acquired this gym, it was BEAUTIFUL. It felt like a true health club with a great location and the amenities were nice. Over the years, this gym has deteriorated to the point it feels unsanitary to work out there because basic maintenance and cleaning has been completely ignored, to the point the properties are rapidly deteriorating. For example, for the past year, at least 1/4 sinks in the women's locker room have been broken and clogged, which eventually turned into two broken sinks, with no efforts to fix for at least six months. Most recently 3/4 sinks were backed up with debris in the sinks for WEEKS. Leaving one usable sink and other three left to ferment with dark matter, likely creating the next viral outbreak. Then there's the showers. Most days the showers look unsanitary. There's been multiple occasions I have tried to use the showers and each stall has massive clumps of hair across the walls and in the drains, indicating they haven’t been cleaned in a concerning amount of time for gym showers. If by chance they appear to have been cleaned, the showers in the women’s locker room have drainage issues, presumably a simple hair clog; however, if one shower is going for over a minute, the water does not drain and you’re standing in an inch of water.I have found this kind of neglect is common at all their facilities. When recently at the Askarben location, all the shower stalls, except one, had no lights or was missing a light because they were burnt out. Changing lightbulbs is basic maintenance and it takes months, if ever, for lights to be changed. In addition, the showers at Askarben were incredibly disappointing. Once beautiful and nice, now there is mold build up around the fixtures, indicating poor cleaning standards and you can see the deterioration in what was once a beautiful gym.Back to Midtown, let’s talk about the actual gym. Out of the five Stairmasters, only two of them work and this has been true for over 6+ months. As machines break, they don’t even bother to put a sign on it. You just learn what machines work and avoid the ones that don’t. In addition, there are several cardio machines that squeak loudly during use, to the point you can hear them through your headphones and across the gym. There is no urgency or concern to fix broken equipment and slowly machines are becoming unusable because basic maintenance isn’t performed. The final straw and why I finally decided to leave Genesis this month, was when the air conditioning went out at Midtown multiple times over the course of at least a week. I understand this happens, but due to the lack of airflow, the true nature of this gym became apparent. It’s below freezing in Nebraska, but the smell at the gym was so rancid with the smell of sweat and urine, I barely lasted 15 minutes before I had to end my workout to prevent myself from throwing up from the smell. I truly do not believe the air quality was safe at that point. I’ve never seen a staff member clean a piece of equipment, which ultimately sets the tone for members. Barely any members clean the equipment after use and over time, this neglect now makes the gym feel unsafe because of the sanitation concerns. To the leadership at Genesis, thank you for ruining every good gym in Omaha.

The employees are what make this location worth going to. They are always friendly, working hard and doing the best with what they have. However the gym itself seems to be falling apart. I pay $80 a month for a locker room with one working sink out of four, a steam room that is rarely working, gym equipment that is falling apart. If I want ot go to a gym that has most working equipment I have to pay an extra fee. Wish it was better considering how much I pay per month.

Gym is dirty and customer service is poor. Black mold in the men's bathroom. Sauna is gross and needs cleaned. Men's showers have mold on the ceiling as well as on the shower tile. No leg extension machine for an equipped gym.

This place used to be great. Now the machines are broken for 4 weeks+. Sauna is not working more than it is functioning (currently is working) Put some money back in the place and restore it.This photo is a great example. This piece broke over a month ago and now has a sign that says “Will be fixed asap” I am not sure it takes 5+ weeks for a repair to happen.Original post 8/9. Update 8/24 and machine still broken! Update 9/5 still broken. Update 9/10 still broken. 9/20 still broken. 10/1 still broken! Now it doesn’t even have a fixing sign up. Fix this dang machine !!!

Every club has little things that are better are worse than other clubs. I have made this club my primary gym everything has been good. But the guy at front desk who did everything left club all started spiraling down with (cleaning, towel services, just all around, broke steam room, machines down) not good. Then two new employees showed up sm lady dark hair don't know name, & Enrique happy to say they have revived the club. Nice, friendly but most importantly club is up running at Level should be. Machines seem to be repaired quicker, towels always good, steam room up running, they have definitely done what needed to be done to get club back up to par, which I'm happy about. I had thoughts of switching not anymore. I pay for a service when it's not good I say something or ask questions. When it's clear you see effort to make things better it's only right to say thank you.
