Professor Valerio and the Gracie Barra community ignited my spark for Jiu Jitsu. I had never known anything abut BJJ except for casually watching UFC until I stepped onto the blue mat. I was first taught under Professor over 3 years ago, and his love for the art and his students is undeniable. He is a wealth of knowledge and makes the entire environment feel like family instead of a constant competition like I have seen in other BJJ gyms. I will be forever grateful for taking the step to try a class with Professor so many years ago. My life and my mentality changed when I began my BJJ journey and it all started with taking that first step to try a class at Gracie Barra to see what it's all about.

I started training at GB Tyler in September 2016, it was one of the greatest and scariest decisions I've ever made! Soon after, my oldest son began training and now my husband trains as well! We love that GB has created an atmosphere for families to work towards goals individually and as a family! Over the years I've had the privilege to train with some of the best professors and coaches around. Professor Valerio is a technical genius, he emphasizes on the tiny details that make ALL the difference in your game! Coach Tim was always a friendly face, keeping adults and kids accountable to the standard of respect and atmosphere of fun in learning! You all are lucky to have them in KS and we hope to come out and join you in training one day!

Valerio was my very first professor and introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I have never met anyone quite as knowledgeable in the sport than him. He cares deeply for his students and is considered one of the top instructors by Gracie Barra, which is an international brand with schools all over the world. I am grateful to have learned at such a critical time as a white belt and was honored to receive my blue belt from him. It was also a tremendous honor to have him present when I recently received my purple belt. Gracie Barra Overland Park is the premier Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school in Overland Park. I wanted to start training BJJ in March when COVID began and the staff was always incredibly helpful. Professor Valerio is by far the best instructor in the city and Coach Tim is incredibly helpful as well. Could not recommend this school highly enough.
