Starting Strength Plano is a perfect blend of serious strength training and a dose of humor. Coach Jones' dad jokes have become a trademark during our sessions. They not only lighten the mood but create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. You can't help but chuckle between sets, and it makes the workouts feel less like a chore and more like a social gathering. But don't let the dad jokes and DJ skills fool you; Coach Jones is incredibly knowledgeable about strength training. His explanations and guidance are clear, and he tailors his approach to suit each individual's needs and goals. You can tell he's dedicated to helping you succeed. I genuinely look forward to my classes at Starting Strength Plano. It's not just about getting stronger; it's about the community, the humor, the music, and the expert guidance. Starting Strength Gym in Plano is a fantastic place for individuals of all ages looking to increase strength and muscle for overall improved health. The trainers at Starting Strength gyms are highly trained and knowledge experts at coaching you to achieve any strength training goals you may require.I'm an older adult (over 60) and have been running for over 20 years which has provided me with great endurance. However, years of endurance running along with a Keto base diet in recent years left me in a much frailer state due to the significant loss of muscle. After doing extensive research on the benefits of strength training, I realized that strength training at my age has to be my primary health goal going forward versus the muscle wasting effect from years of endurance running. Strength training provides numerous health benefits, such as lower risk of heart disease and diabetes, stronger bones, improved brain health and mood as well as improved self-esteem.I've been training at the Plano gym for about three months now under the expert care of my training coach Michael Jones. Michael is an excellent trainer but beyond that he is a caring person who is totally dedicated to helping you achieve your personal strength related goals. Michael has gone above and beyond the norm in helping me get stronger all the while feeling safer lifting heavy weights at a later age in life. I came to Starting Strength as a beginner in barbell training and feel I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge in proper lifting techniques and exercise programming. Despite being there only 3 months with a two week training interruption due to an illness I have achieved excellent strength gains. My squat strength has increased by 65 pounds, my bench press has increased by 50 pounds and my deadlift by 90 pounds.Starting Strength Plano will provide you with highly trained and very knowledgeable strength coaches like Michael Jones who know their stuff! You can be certain you are in expert hands and are learning from the best in the strength training business from people who care about you and want to see you succeed in becoming stronger and healthier! I am very happy I discovered them and I feel very confident that I am on my way to being stronger later in life than I have ever been!

Well it's been 3 months and now none of my clothes fit. My butt is too big for my pants, my shoulders too broad for my shirts. I've made more strength gains in 3 months than I had in years of doing it myself or with personal trainers.Is it expensive? Yes.Is it absolutely worth it if you want to get stronger? Also yes.10/10 would train again...on Friday...before the sun comes up.

I started training this month, and I love it! All the coaches are super knowledgeable, and they are able to pay individual attention to each person, even in the group classes. The classes and coaches are also a lot of fun! Everybody is really encouraging and it’s a very supportive community. I can’t wait to get stronger and stronger!

I'm 3 months in and feeling great. Previous attempts to do strength training on my own always ended up feeling sore or injured, but with this program, I always feel great. And I'm getting stronger each week.Jacob is a great coach! He keeps all of us motivated and knows how to adapt the program to an individuals goals and limitations.

I've been coming here for just a month and have become stronger than I've ever been. It's definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. The classes are super welcoming, the coaches are incredible, and they'll always work with you if you can't make it for one reason or another. I cannot recommend it enough. Also, I'm a pretty shy and nervous person, and in no time I felt like I was part of the class.I've done standard personal training at a gym previously and it's not even comparable. I've made more progress in a month with Coach Michael Jones than I made in four months in my previous program. No matter what your age or goals, this is definitely the gym to go to for solid and consistent improvement. Thank you to everyone at Starting Strength in Plano!

My initial goal in coming to this gym was that I wanted someone to teach me how to safely lift weights. I was not interested in doing something that would carelessly cause injuries nor playing around on some goofy machines. The coaches here are great at safely teaching the techniques for the barbell lifts. The programming is geared toward the goals you have. If you are interested in getting stronger, you definitely will here. After almost two years, I'm lifting weights that I had previously never considered a possibility of lifting. The gym environment is very welcoming and accepting of new and seasoned lifters. I definitely enjoy the time spent here. I had once considered "the gym" an intimidating and overwhelming place, now I consider it my comfortable space.

Coach Michael Jones is an amazing coach both in person and online. He really takes the time to assess your individual needs. I work an office job that involves me primarily sitting the majority of the day, I developed shoulder and some upper back pain due to sitting. So I decided at 44 years of age to give weight training a try and wanted to find a good trainer to avoid injury, so I decided to work with coach Michael. A year has passed my shoulder pain has almost completely gone and I feel so much stronger, I stand up nice and straight now. I can now squat and deadlift over 300lbs safely. My overall health and self esteem has improved and my wife is happy seeing the changes in my physique. I highly recommend coach Michael to anyone that is serious about your health, strength and overall self esteem.

I’ve been coming to Starting Strength Plano for about eight months now and have really enjoyed my experience so far. I’ve gotten stronger than I ever imagined I would. That being said, I feel like I still have a lot of untapped potential and plan to continue training with Starting Strength Plano. The improved strength has come in handy in my daily life especially when it comes to carrying loads (including but not limited to children) around the house. In addition, my level of confidence in the lifts and strength training in general has improved significantly (something I always struggled with prior to Starting Strength Plano). All the coaches I have worked with have been great. Shoutout to Jacob. He is an awesome coach who keeps you accountable and gets you results. At the same time, he is completely approachable if you have questions or concerns.

Love this gym and the excellent coaching I’ve received for barbell strength training. I’m an over 60 woman who has been pretty active but always found the weight room and especially using barbells to be very intimidating. Starting Strength Plano coaches have done an excellent job on teaching me proper form and how to gain strength! The gym itself is very clean and well thought out for great workouts. I’ve met some wonderful people and feel very much at home there. In the year that I’ve been going I’ve increased my strength substantially and now feel confident in any weight room setting!
