If you're going to work out, it's a great place to go. Many cardio machines, plenty of free weights, and quality equipment. But Im giving a 4 out of 5 because there are a lot of people who go there to socialize instead of work out. Taking up machines and bench space doing nothing but talking. And unfortunately this includes some of the staff as well.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found the Upper Perk Y in such close proximity to us. The facility boasted a number of quality machines, several pools, a whirlpool and sauna. I particularly need the whirlpool for a continuing back therapy regimen. To date, we are going on the 2nd year of membership and as I might have expected the quality has deteriorated. Currently, three out of the 5 shower stalls have been shut down, the machines I use do not receive regular adjustments, the whirlpool closes at the most inconvenient times, the sauna hovers around a mild 160 degrees, and overall there is little concern by the staff. On top of that, there seems to be an inclination from the staff to lock down the inside of the pool area the minute the forecast calls for thunder, including whirlpool and sauna. Their answer always seems to be 'it's for your own protection, sir'.....and management wonders why membership suffers? They could serve the clients better. The proverbial honeymoon is over.

The new YMCA in the Upper Perkiomen Valley has fun for the whole family. There are pools, water slides, a gym, weekly classes, a track, and a lot more. But after a while of going there, everything seems repetitive. To me, everything else is fine and my family enjoys going here.

This is the best and cheapest gym membership i have ever gotten and it has many other activities to go along with the workout room. Some of these activities include volley ball, basket ball, and swimming.
