I been taking Derricks classes for about 4 months. When I started I had severe knee and shoulder issues. I could barely squat, run , jump, push and press anything without pain. With Derrick knowledge and athletic training he put together stretches exercises for me to help strengthen, and help my mobility in my knees and shoulders. Now I miss date September 21 I am lifting I’m squatting doing lunges. I am more agile, athletic. I am lifting more weight than I did since I was in college without any pain. I want to thank Derek for his patience, and his hard work with me and anybody who takes his class will benefit from his knowledge and his skill in helping you through injuries, and helping you get the results you need.

Derrick is incredibly knowledgeable in what he does. He really cares about your goals and is able to push you in the best way in order for you to achieve them. He really helped me improve my speed, explosiveness, core strength and my overall fitness. Had great workouts with him inside and outside of the gym that were always motivating. As a former collegiate wrestler that he trained, he was able to gear our workouts that were sport specific to me. He continued to believe in me even when I had a tough time believing in myself. Amazing trainer and an outstanding guy.

My 12 year old daughter came to me after struggling in her competitive soccer team's games and said, "I'm not fast enough to play soccer and I get tired when I run. I don't want to play anymore." She had worked so hard on her soccer skills to play at a competitive level, but she had never worked on the basics of moving, running, stopping, and changing directions. These were skills that coaches expected their players to have naturally or to have learned on their own. My daughter isn't a natural athlete, but she is a hard worker, and as her dad I just couldn't stand to see her quit something that she really enjoys, as well as missing out on playing with her friends that she made through soccer.I asked her if we found someone who could help her with her game speed and if she worked at that like she works on her soccer drills, would she at least give it a try before giving up the sport she loves. She agreed, but was kind of disappointed and a little embarrassed that she had to "practice running" when other girls were just fast without even trying. But at least she was willing to give it a try and not quit.We found Derrick, and during her first session, he identified multiple biomechanical issues she had. But instead of pointing them out to her and what she was "doing wrong" he gave her 5 basic things she could work on that all involved very simple drills that she could do at home. The other important quality that Derrick has is his ability to translate exercises and drills into application because he understands sports so well. After just one month, 4 sessions, my daughter went from being at the bottom of her team in terms of straightline speed to one of the fastest. She still has a lot to work on in terms of directional speed and change of direction, but Derrick understood that if she saw improvement in her straightline speed, she was going to gain confidence and that would keep her playng soccer. And that's exactly what happened. Her newfound speed on the field as well as her not getting gassed in games got her an invite to tryout for an elite club team. That invitation gave her the confidence to know that if she keeps on working hard, she will become a really good player, and more importantly, she will be able to enjoy the sport through middle school and beyond. In preparation for the upcoming fall season, Derrick is already talking to her about strength training and building explosiveness over the summer. While she is super excited about this in terms of soccer, I see it as more than that. Derrick is building the foundation for her to be a healthy, physical young woman who might find another activity she enjoys doing in the future, and when she does, she will ready to do it because of the training she began at this age. I can only imagine the successes she will have and the friendships she will make as she finds herself becoming stronger and as her confidence continues to grow working with Derrick.

Recently, I participated in a one-hour workout session with Derrick Virassammy during a trip to Barbados! His ability to make the workout both challenging and enjoyable was impressive! This shows that he truly understands the balance between pushing and supporting his clients. The instructions he provided were clear and straightforward, making all the different techniques and exercises easy to understand and follow. There was one exercise in particular that I just couldn't grasp - Derrick remained patient with me until I mastered it.The fact that I never felt intimidated or judged made all the difference in my level of confidence.A stranger approached Derrick out of the blue as our session was coming to a close and requested to schedule a training session with him for the following day. I guess that's how good an impression he made on those simply observing! With Derrick's friendly, calming manner, our training session felt more like an enjoyable experience than a grueling exercise regimen. Let's go!!!.... for anyone seeking a knowledgeable and approachable fitness professional, I highly recommend him as a trainer.

Coach Derrick is a gem of a trainer. I have worked with him numerous times and most recently, he led a group of friends in a virtual strengthening and stretching session. He was able to differentiate to each person's individual needs in a fun, challenging and encouraging way. I highly recommend AGF!

Working with Derrick in high school, while in 3 different sports, I saw tremendous improvement in my speed and agility. When working out with Derrick, you are not just working out but you are improving technique in everything.

Derrick is the most patient, encouraging and kind menor/ coach you could ask for. I trained with him as a kid and I had such a positive experience I still smile thinking about it. The values gained from him and his philosophy on exercise & agility are invaluable. They wouldn’t be the same if it was taught by a different coach.

After falling off the fitness wagon during COVID, I really wanted to focus on getting some fitness back and getting stronger. I knew I wanted to work with a trainer, but I had no idea where to start. I've done basically everything before, including CrossFit. I feel so lucky to have found Derrick. He's really paid attention to my goals and tailored my workouts to help me get stronger. He encourages me to push myself, but not to excess. He's always very focused on good form and making sure I don't injure myself. And he's a genuinely nice person. He's the real deal.

Coach Derrick is by far the best trainer I have ever had. As a college baseball player he has helped me tremendously with my speed and agility. If you want a trainer to help you, weather that’s for athletics purposes, appearance, or just maintaining good health, he’s the guy for you. He is extremely encouraging and he will push you to do your best.
