Taking classes at BoxFit has been one of my favorite parts about living here in San Diego! I can’t speak highly enough of the community that the coaches have built at the gym. No matter who was coaching or who was attending the class, I always felt welcome and excited to show up and box with everyone. All of the encouragement and guidance I received from Mike (owner) and the other coaches was always so helpful and has really made me love boxing. After starting from a place of minimal experience I’ve developed the confidence and skills to hold my own in any type of boxing class thanks to everyone here!

There’s no better gym in San Diego that has a dedicated owner (Mike Reeder) and staff to make our Parkinson’s fight a whole lot easier. The Rock Steady Boxing Downtown program at Box Fit in North Park has to be one of the best for a full on workout. Mike makes sure to bring in guest speakers to keep us updated on everything to do with Parkinson’s. I’ve been coming here for over 6 years and can honestly say if it wasn’t for Mike and his dedicated staff I would probably be in a wheelchair, so thank you Box Fit for making my quality of life a whole lot better!“Hands of Stone”

After I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2016, it took me a while to accept my diagnosis. Encouraged by my doctor, I began attending Rock Steady Boxing at Boxfit in North Park.I have to say that it changed my outlook incredibly!Mike and all the coaches are very knowledgeable and compassionate with each individual. They have created a challenging environment where everyone feels welcome and totally accepted.I have learned so much about the benefits of boxing as exercise, and always feel so much better after participating. Knowing that everyone there is facing the same challenges encourages me to continue to work hard, even on my “down” days. Thanks to Rock Steady Boxing at Boxfit, my life with PD is a lot easier!

It isn't often that I give 5 stars in a review, but in this case it is more than deserved!! My reason for joining BoxFit was to try and slow down the progression of my Parkinson Disease, not only through exercise but also to be part of a community that has the same goal in mind. Michael Reeder (Coach Mike) and his staff of trainers and volunteers are dedicated to insuring that each PD "fighter" gets the individual and group attention necessary to benefit as much as possible from their program. If you are looking for a laid-back, comfortable atmosphere with little exercise, this is not the place for you. If, on the other hand, you are looking for lots of tough, thorough, balanced exercise designed to help you fight PD, then this is definitely the place to be!! It doesn't matter what level of PD you are struggling with, there is a place for you at BoxFit.PS: It's fun!

Since joining "Rock Steady Boxing Downtown" located in North Park San Diego in December 2022, I have enjoyed the camaraderie with the Parkinson's class, the focus on physical balance & coordination, getting fit, the focus on speech & physical therapy and the determination to better myself due to the compassion & help received in the class from the classmates & the coaches. Coach Mike Reeder & his team of assistants, (such as: Colt 45, Action Jackson, Coach D, Madcap, Lady Lightning...) & volunteers have put together an awesome program for people with Parkinson's disease who have come from all walks of life, conditions, ages & backgrounds. Coach Mike & his team really do care & are compassionate about each individual & make sure that each one of us is doing our best to achieve/exceed our potential, while knowing our limitations, and have a fun time while participating in class. We also get to together socially at times & participate as a group for special events. We have gotten to know each other & have developed bonds that will last a lifetime. Thank you so much Coach Mike & everyone at Boxfit SD for everything you do & for who you are! Punching Away, Spider

Absolutely the best boxing related gym. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful with Mike, the owner, leading the charge in the enthusiasm department. I have been with this group for over 6 years and it just keeps getting better.

I've been fortunate enough to be Boxfit's youngest consistent member over the years. Starting off at the age of 12 and on the verge of 200lbs, I knew I wanted to live a healthier life. The environment and atmosphere at Boxfit throughout my time being there is nothing but an encouraging space. What's great about the workout is you get what you put into these workouts. It's life lessons like that and the community that keeps me going week by week for the past 5 or so years. Now sitting at a comfortable 150lbs, I can properly say that Boxfit has been a major influence on the person I've become today, and I hope that it can do the same for many others.

I love this gym and all the awesome people that go here. Colton is my favorite coach but they all bring something unique to the workouts that keep you motivated.

Gosh I really hate writing negative reviews for neighborhood small businesses, but my experience here was so ridiculous and unprofessional that I feel compelled to say something. I bought a 10 pack private training session with a trainer at Boxfit last year and this trainer was so disorganized that it's really difficult to work with him. He cancelled on me last minute a few times due to personal reasons and was always late to our sessions. He also didn't seem to remember when I told him a week in advance that I'd be out of town and wrote me down a couple of "no shows" by mistake. All of that was tolerable as I understand that everybody works differently and maybe him and I are just not fit to work together since I'm such a stickler for punctuality. However during our last session, I mentioned that I might not be continuing to which he said "this is your 12th session by the way", and then told me that I owed him fee for 2 sessions. This was beyond shady because even though in his mind he knew that I went past our initial "10 sessions"(which was wrong by the way), he never gave me a heads up and continued our weekly sessions. I expected at least a "hey by the way this is your last session, would you like to renew another 10?" from any honest business. I had no choice but to send screenshots of all of our text messages to prove that the trainer was the one who made a mistake and registered me multiple times when he wasn't supposed to. I sent this information to the owner of the gym and all I got was "there was a software misunderstanding..." No dude, the trainer messed up, just own it. At the end of the day, maybe he didn't mean to hustle me. But I really hope this trainer sees this review and understand that this level of disorganization and unprofessionalism is not ok.
