The gym seems to be fine and well equipped but I signed up online which seems to be a mistake because the payment seemed to not entirely go through. However the reason I'm deducting one star is that despite everyone else saying the staff are friendly, the guy at the front desk wasn't welcoming and didn't help explain anything and from the experience just now, this gym hasn't been easy to join as a newcomer. In regards to why I needed to go to the front desk, this is my fault for not entirely reading the email (the bottom of the email was a huge block of text that kind of looked like a signature which my brain auto skipped due to being used to work emails). It was just the experience of me coming in for the first time wasn't good - I didn't feel comfortable wanting to work out there the same day after my experience with the front desk guy.TLDR: you don't get a card, you get a QR code.I'll actually go use the gym when someone isn't at the front desk though cause I honestly don't want to see that front desk staffer.

Small gym with great atmosphere. Very friendly, owner is very welcoming.Focused mainly on powerlifting they have a good range of equipment with plenty of squat racks and deadlift platforms. Even though it's mostly focused on powerlifting, I can still get a great bodybuilding workout. One of the best features is 24 hours access for members. I highly recommend it.

Best gym in SD hands down! Have been going here since they have opened and and I have not one single complaint. People if you don't see the significance of the caliber of this gym I feel sorry for you. 45 bucks a month and its 24 hour ? 20$ annual fee , cancel at anytime . Not shaming other gyms but this is a tough one to beat. No intentions of leaving this gym anytime soon. Bub operates this gym as if he was a customer looking the the right gym . As a member tips if you are going to become a member RE RACK YOUR WEIGHTS and your gonna be fine.

I just started working out in this gym last week and the machines are high quality compared to 24 Hour/LA Fitness. The vibe is pretty chill and staffs are nice. My only complaint was the location of the gym since it's pretty hidden and the parking lot isn't the best. It would be great if the hours were longer especially for people who get off work later in the day.

Decent gym with plenty of options to use. Have had issues trying to get in after hours due to a newer barcode system which left me in the parking lot unable to workout those times. Biggest complaint is having to go in person to cancel a membership. That policy doesn’t make much sense to me.

Metroplex blows every other gym I’ve been to out of the water. Nearly every person at this gym is way into lifting, and everyone knows what they’re doing. It’s a great atmosphere every time I go, and everyone is genuine and kind. The music selection is pretty intense (metal or screamo or something like it), but obviously I wear headphones.

Out of all the gyms I've visited since arriving in California, this is the best gym. The owner is super polite and willing to help you work form or just lift with you. The atmosphere of the gym is awesome, it has the old school feel but with new equipment. Highly recommended.

Super clean gym with every machine you could ever need. The staff there is very personable and customer service is one of a kind. HIGHLY recommended this gym over any other. Friendly environment and killer music. If I’m ever back here you guarantee I’ll workout here.

One of the best (if not the best) gyms in San Diego. Very fair prices, friendly and knowledgeable management, with top of the line equipment. Overall, the best bang for your buck!
