This is one of the coolest looking gyms (interior and exterior) I've ever been to. A decades-old retro movie theater was converted into a modern luxury gym while retaining some of the original architectural elements. I'm sure this gym may have landed in a Architectural Digest article once! But the design does limit workout space. There's very little workout space and very short on equipment. It's so popular on weekday evenings that you can expect to wait in line to use one of the machines.

Very crowded and old rusty gym equipment. When I pay $300 per month, I don’t expect to wait up to 10 minutes every time I want to use a machine or bench. The only reason that I’m a member is because it’s the nearest gym to where I live.

This location is not up to the standards I'm used to at other Equinox locations. The weight floors were packed...every bench was in use, I felt like I was competing for mirror space to check form, and folks were waiting for the cable machines. The women's locker room was a mess (is it normal for members to leave dirty towels on the benches and counters instead of putting them in the hampers?). The staff were friendly and the workspace downstairs is comfy and useful. I'll be giving the Pine Street location a try...

equinox van ness is better. it gets extremely crowded quickly and I've had times where every single machine is being used. the only positive about union st is the nice working area and the wood floors in the showers

The worst equinox location, I’ve ever been to. It’s the same as a blink fitness.I reached out to the GM several times regarding the out of order machines, people constantly talking on their phones (FaceTiming in the women’s locker room) she has never responded. The staff is friendly, but it doesn’t make up for how crowded and somehow dejected this place is.

Felt welcomed at Equinox and able to work out here productively. Darek the trainer, Crystal who on-boarded me and the staff are fantastic. Clean, great amenities and vantage view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the top floor.

Equinox Union Street is a complete disaster. The facilities are in shambles, with broken equipment and dirty changing rooms. The trainer is rude and unhelpful, showing a lack of professionalism. It's clear that the management has no interest in maintaining a quality of gym.

steam room is constantly broken. no update as to when it will be fixed after a week. weekend hours need to be extended for the amount of money you pay to go here.really nice staff though...just needs better management.

Best gym in San Francisco by far. I worked out at 24 hour fitness for years and finally stepped up to the better gym. Always friendly staff, impeccable cleanliness, people who are serious about fitness and staying in shape, state of the art equipment and facilities. The other negative reviews on here seem inaccurate. However it does become crowded during peak hours, but that is the case with any popular gym.
