I have trained at a few other schools over the years and this one has been the best. It is always a concern whom you are training with. The people here are great and it has a family feel. There are high level competitive students as well as more hobbiests/ athletes.My daughter started two years ago with hesitation and a lack of confidence. Not just in her abilities, but in life. She is now 15 and trains bjj and kickboxing at least four times a week. She is much more confident in the gym and in life. It was great training in the same gym as her. Her athleticism has improved and she is better prepared for volleyball and soccer during those seasons. Paulo has been flexible with her other sports training.This facility, instructors, training hours, variety of classes (kickboxing, bjj, judo, fitness, etc) and the quality and quantity of other students is perfect to develop as a student. I highly recommend sdbjj.

Best Dojo in San Diego!!! All sensi and coaches are amazing, they welcome you in as family. My family and I have been going here for almost 4 years, we are extremely happy. You will find they provide you as a student or your child with extensive training to the knowledge each sensi has to offer. A great activity and environment for the kids to gain confidence, self defense, discipline, respect and a hard work ethic. SDBJJ offers an affordable family plan, it’s worth the investment.

My two sons and I have been going to SDBJJ for over 8 years now and this place is gold. It has done so much for our family and every time we step on the mat we try to give back to the newer students. I travel all over the world for work and drop in other schools often, and let me tell you, this is one of the best schools to train anywhere in the planet. I’ve been attending classes now for a year and was completely new at the time. Sensei Paulo and everyone are like family. He literally walked me through the entire facility introducing me to everyone he saw as if he has known me for years. In a sport that can be intimidating and new for folks any unease was completely removed. The staff is solid 10/10. I wouldn’t train anywhere else and plan on getting my kids involved soon too. The members are now friends/family, it’s extremely welcoming and safe for all ages and level of experience. Much love osssss!

We bring our two young children (ages 3 & 5) to SDBJJ and we love it. The boys are always excited to go, the environment is friendly and the instructors are incredible. We’ve been to other martial arts studios but have only ever recommended this one to others.

My Grandson has been training here for a year now. Previously I had him training at another highly rated Jiu-Jitsu school in the Carlsbad area. He also trained there for one year.The difference lies in this, the other school does have good and above average teaching, but it is very clique, in the fact that there is a favoritism to the children that are stars on there completion team. Not all children get equal time. Not so at SDBJJ all children and parents are treated equally here competitor or notSince coming to SDBJJ my Grandson has grown immensely in the art. He has confidence and is showing on the mat.He recently competed in a tournament in Los Angeles and won a silver medal with four other fighters in his group.I contribute all this to the Jiu-Jitsu staff at SDBJJ.The level of instruction is excellent.Paulo whose credentials speak for themselves truly has time for every parent and student.Adam is a great instructor and loves teaching kids in Jiu-Jitsu and how to apply the disciplines in every day life.Dillon who teaches my Grandson private lessons is awesome, he has really turned him around as a fighter, Thanks Dillon .Jesus is an excellent Muay Thai instructor and he just loves what he does. He’s great with the kids as well, he has a way of energizing his kids.Rolly head boxing instructor and his staff provide excellence in the art of boxing.Rolly is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet coupled with his teaching ability is a combination that can’t be beat, Rolly offers classes in boxing fit as well as physical fitness in general,Sensei Walter is a red belt Judokan practitioner one of very few in the Country let alone in the State.’He works with the kids in the art of Judo, providing them with the highest level of training they can get in the Country let alone the County.We in the North County area are fortunate to have SDBJJ here,I could not recommend it any higher.If you think that’s all it’s not, wait until you see the new faculty that they have recently purchased. State of the Art due to open somewhere around the first of the year,This all shows Paulo’s commitment to the sport and to bringing the finest MMA style gym to North County.If your thinking about any of these disciplines as something you interested in then you owe to yourself to check this gym out.I must give a shout out to Paulo and his Staff,Thanks for everything guys.

SD BJJ is an amazing gym. I signed up a month or two ago and I've only been able to go a couple times due to increased hours at work, which thank God will be ending soon. But anyways, the first day there I felt like I had already been going there for a long time. It's a very friendly environment and no one has an ego. Another thing, Paolo is a very nice guy who is willing to help you out when needed. Out of any other BJJ/MMA gym I have been to, this one is by far the best!

The best academy with great instructors!! My son Jacob have been training here for about a year and a half and absolutely loves it! The instructors such as: Sensei Adam, Dylan & Wes are great with the kids. Everyone treats you like family. Well structured training sessions for both kids & adults! :)

SDBJJ is more than just a judo/Jits school.... they’re a family. The staff are always looking out for the students best interest. All the senseis are great mentors, instructors, kind and caring.
