The main reason I joined was to swim, last time I tried to use the pool I was told by the lifeguard (bobby) that I can't go in the pool with my jammers (literally swimming jammers and I was wearing underwear under so it wasn't extra revealing) he wasn't able to give me a reason though, so i went to the front desk and got no answers either, I called the aquatics director for answers, it's been over 2 months and I still haven't got a call, text , email etc , to add insult to injury he did allow a mom and her kids on basketball shorts and graphic tees to get in the pool even THAT is against the rules ,also I went to the ymca site and funny enough they have a picture of the same jammers i was wearing on their " recommended swimwear " this is ridiculous, if you're going to hire highschoolers at least train them properly, this feels like an unprofessional bad joke.Something better be done soon or I'm canceling my membership. I want to know I'll be able to swim.

This place is unprofessional. They hire young kids to watch over ymca camp younglings and are more interested in their phones then doing their job. They have actually lost track of my son while he was there. They didn't know if he was there or gone already and I almost had to have an amber alert sent out. They have failed multiple times to give my child his prescription when they told me it was not a problem. They have lost prescriptions lost backpacks swim vest towels I can go on and on. I've requested multiple call backs and no one seems to care. I voice my concerns to the camp director Diana who doesn't seem to care at all about my frustrations and actually told me well you're not coming back next year so I guess that's that. This is the most unprofessional YMCA I've ever attended and I will never bring my son back to this location. You will be told multiple times they will call you back and they will never call you back. When it comes to paperwork they are lazy and take their time to respond and file or process paperwork. It's pretty sad that this is the only YMCA is I have been coming here since I was 8 years old and I'm now 41. If I could give zero Stars I would cuz they didn't earn any stars this summer. It's pretty sad to see the decline of a company like this but given the Staffing that they have I'm not surprised. Unfulfilled promises and lack of communication along with poor quality child care has put me and all of my friends in a position where we will never go back to the ymca. Do yourself a favor and if you're considering taking your kid there for child care find somewhere else because they couldn't care less what's going on with your kid they only care about the money .

I give the Santa Maria YMCA 2.5 stars out of 5. I'm a member only for lap swim. Some of the positives: the lifeguards are friendly, the parking is easy, the pool is always a nice temperature.A concern: when I signed up I was told that outside of summer, lap swim was available M-F 9am-12pm. It turns out that's the case maybe only half of the time. Those hours are somewhat of a myth as it seems every month that time is given away to the school board. It's frustrating to pay for time you thought you would get only to have the time constantly given away with no notice.Bottom line - if you're on a fixed work schedule looking for a pool with dedicated lap swim hours this might not be the place for you.

The Y needs to be reopen until 10pm during the week and 7pm on Saturday. This schedule is the way it used to be before recent price increases, so the increased flexibility continues making the fees worth it.

It would definitely be better if the y stayed open longer I remember it being open until 11pm some days and 10pm on other days. It would be nice to because some people aren’t able to go to the gym till a little later in the evening

My staff and I from Poole Orthodontics volunteered at the YMCA today for their annual fundraiser. I was so impressed with the facilities and the staff and people. It was such a warm and welcoming family friendly environment. If you are considering joining a gym please go take a tour, their website doesn't do it justice. Great place all around!

Great service, for the most part. Some areas lacking, such as how the front desk handles some issues and these are locked to a few certain employees so I know when to approach an issue with them. Beyond that, there's a great pool with hot-tub spa, dry-sauna, and wet-sauna; two full-featured (and redesigned) locker-rooms for either (bio) gender with lockers, restrooms, and showers; a free-weight room, a cardio room (with more machine weights), two indoor basketball courts and one outdoor basketball court, two racquetball courts, workout classes (many per day), a full-functioning day-care, a skate-park, and a soccer field. I'm sure I am missing some things, however all of these facilities wind together to create a wonderful atmosphere that the YMCA is known for.
