IRON Santa Monica is an excellent gym located at 1919 Broadway, Santa Monica, CA 90404. Its two floors are equipped with everything you would find at any major gym: treadmills, weights, dumbbells, and more. Offering parking and lengthy opening hours, this gym is a perfect option for those looking for a basic, no-frills exercise experience. With a friendly community atmosphere, free parking, a recovery room on-site and an outdoor workout space, the gym appeals to a range of fitness enthusiasts.

Despite positive reviews mentioning cleanliness and attentive staff, some customers find the gym a bit overpriced, especially for temporary usage. This gym is definitely for those seeking serious workouts, as the music and energy level is often intense; it also enforces rules that some heavy lifters may find restrictive.

  • Good range of equipment
  • Friendly community environment
  • Recovery room on-site
  • Outdoor workout space
  • Clean and well-maintained
  • Numerous cardio machines and weights
  • Not overly crowded
  • Professional staff
  • Easy sign-up process
  • Dedicated parking

Cons:

  • A bit expensive for temporary or short-term memberships
  • Strict rules that might not accommodate all workout styles
  • Some customers found the music too loud

Excellent facilities, very professional staff and management. Couldn’t have been happier with my experience at IRON Santa Monica. I joined in Sept 2021 and with the help of my trainer Brandon I was able to shed 80 pounds in less than eight months … steady and sustainable weight loss and consistent progress. I would recommend IRON and Brandon to anyone starting out on a fitness journey or wanting to go to the next level of strength and power.Mike S

In the area for a bit and the SM equinox was too small with only 2 squat racks. Signing up here was smooth and easy. Plenty of dedicated parking behind the gym. The gym is setup/designed very nicely with the cardio machines on the 2nd floor and lots of open space for on the 1st for people who want to do lunges and the sort. The ceiling is very high which is always good for a gym so it doesnt get too hot and loud. Lots of dumbbells, a few isolation machines, a small turfed area where I've noticed people stretch or do HIIT type of workouts, and a small outdoor area. Towels are provided and while the shower area is small they are clean and feel nice.My favorite part, they have 3 squat racks/platforms with padded weightlifting area suitable for deadlifting and olympic lifts. The platforms have Eleiko bumper plates and extra barbells. Most of the barbells are decent quality with nice knurling. Would be nice if they had some powerbars and a deadlift jack. I dont like their bench press setup as the bench height is way too low to get properly positioned. Also not a fan of the TVs. Their ceiling ventilation leaks. Hasn’t been fixed for the whole month I’ve been here. Also the rack near the back has a funky smell that’s been there for a month as well. Notified front desk but not resolved. It's always very clean and I usually notice a staff member putting plates back which is a great touch. The water fountain isnt very good with the water pressure being low. The few people I've met have been nice and considerate. Everyone seems respectful of each other and the space. Great experience so far and plan to continue going for the next month!

Iron Fitness is the best boutique gym I've ever been to. Since being in LA, I've been a member of Equinox, Trifit, 24 hr Fitness and the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Besides the convenience in west LA / Santa Monica, I settled on Iron because of the great environment and staff. It's really clean and comfortable, with all the equipment you need, whether you're a serious lifter or an endurance athlete. While I don't use any of the personal trainers myself, I see them with other loyal clientele all the time...a good sign that people love them.

Not bad for class pass open gym. They have 1 ski erg, 1 rowing machine, and 1 assault bike – these 3 machines are separate from all the ellipticals and treadmills.

I love this gym! I signed up as a member for the boxing program and have had a great experience. The boxing trainers are not only experienced boxing experts that will help you improve your technique, but they will also put you through high intensity, great workouts. Plus everyone is super friendly and the facility is very clean!

Nice small gym. Very clean. Not crowded. Aerobic machines are a bit old but the weight equipment is very nice. Pleasant vibe. People are serious about exercise but it's a friendly quiet place too go workout. Showers are small but clean.

Awesome staff! Was in from out of town and needed to train. They got me in for a lift and everyone was super courteous and welcoming. Really nice layout and use of space as well. Definitely recommend if you live nearby and are looking for a gym.

Iron Fitness would have been one of the best things that could have ever happened to me, had it not be for the abnoxiously loud music, penetrating every cell of your body, invading the privacy of your mind and emotional life! This is true especially if you are there to focus on your workout without the need for super hyper stimulation from music! Otherwise, it is an absolutely fantastic gym. Staff is friendly, polite, helpful, and accommodating. The size of the gym is neither too big nor too small. It is equipped with all that is expected of a good gym. The set up is wonderful and they have made great use of the space. It is well maintained and is kept clean. The abandoned weights are regularly put back in place by the staff so that one doesn't have to walk about looking for them! If one of the staff notices that you are looking for something, they will help you find it. Overall, the gym has a private feel to it as it is never too crowded, and its members are nice, polite, and friendly. I only wish they would keep the music at a more civilized and non-intrusive level so that one would feel that they are in a gym and not a club!

I recently did a 7 day trial. The facility was not as populated as the major gym chains, which was very appealing, and equipment was adequate. However, the staff and management are very disorganized and unconcerned with the new customer. I decided not to join the gym after my experience with the staff.

In Seattle & Austin, the 24 HR Fitness “Super” sport locations were phenomenal — here, not so much. I was happy to arrive at a well-maintained gym with an excellent staff, interesting class options (Koga) and at what I felt is a fair price. IRON keeps the fire burning. Oh yea, and there’s parking too
