This isn't the flashiest gym with hundreds of machines. You won't get spritzed with Evian (probably?) but you WILL get some incredibly personalized attention from some great trainers. The owner, John, even checked in with me from time to time to see how I was progressing and to make sure I was happy with how things were going with my trainer. Top notch customer service.

I was seeking out personal training because I had fallen off my normal workout routine, largely due a historically bad knee and what imagine tight/sore hips from bad posture at my 9-5I assumed the trainer would just create a workout to avoid the pain or stress, but Ben is no ordinary trainer! You can see Ben’s passion for fitness and health from the get-go. He has been committed to addressing the pain and resolving it rather than avoiding it, he’s mantra being that no one has to live with pain.It’s been great working with him the past few months. We’ve gotten to the point where if my knee is in pain he can reduce the pain within a matter of minutes. I really look forward to resolving the pain while meeting my fitness goals.

Great gym with awesome instructors. Gerry was really passionate and energetic. John is caring and professional. I really enjoyed working out 3x a week and always looked forward to the next session. Overall great atmosphere and vibes.

I came in looking for some extra guidance and motivation to get back in the gym after chronic back issues have mostly sidelined me for the last couple years. Right from the get go, John was working me hard and pushing me while constantly checking in on my back (like every 5 min at first :) ) and switching things up if it was firing a little bit too much. He has a very solid understanding of the body and was able to pinpoint a lot of the same stuff that a physical therapist might. I've started playing basketball again and as new injuries and tweaks came in, John worked around those too and always kept them top of mind.On top of that, John is just a great guy, and the space and vibe he's set up is a very inviting, no-ego, no judgement zone. He's always bumping some great music, chatting me up, and keeping me going when I need the pushIn the last 3 months I've been working with John, I've noticed some major results! I highly recommend giving him and Local Fit a try!

I've been training with John for 3+ years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. Even after moving away from the area, it's worth commuting in for my sessions. John takes a completely personalized approach to training and helps each client target their own goals in the manner that's most beneficial for them. He also manages to make workouts fun -- I look forward to them every week! Highly recommend.

I have been a client for a couple of years. I have had two back surgeries over the last couple of years and was in a lot of discomfort. John has put together a program that has made my quality of life so much better. He always makes sure that each exercise is comfortable and if not changes it up to get the same results.I have been an athlete all my life and have been hindered from back problems. I am well on my way back to the courts thanks to John's individualized training.

I started working with John over a year and a half ago after a bad ankle injury, I was needing to find new ways to exercise. John is always mindful of my injury and has plenty of modifications available to find something that works for me. I hate super amp’d up fake positive bullshit, and I love that John can meet me at my level, and push me to go harder, but also be pretty chill as well. I’ve really enjoyed working with him—I’ve gotten stronger and stayed fit, in these weird times having an outlet for physical activity has been so helpful for both my body and mind. If you're looking for a trainer in the area you should definitely check out Local Fit!

So glad I found this Capitol Hill gem! The gym itself is bright, inviting, and always kept clean. John, the owner, has been communicative and professional from the beginning. He has an upbeat personality and a great sense of humor that can help you through any workout & will keep you looking forward to your next session! I’ve been training here for about 4 months now and never want to stop! This place has lots of long-term, loyal clients and I think that says a lot about this business. I've been training with John for +3yrs, and there's a reason why I keep coming back time and time again. I'm an avid weightlifter, but sometimes you need that extra push & external motivation. John keep me accountable, pushes me for that extra rep and encourages me to go heavier, which is hard for me to do on my own sometimes. I really love that John keeps the environment super fun and friendly, it's not intimidating at all for newbies and still fun for us veterans. There's definitely a community vibe here - everyone who comes in for the bootcamp classes are super nice and I've ended up making a ton of friends through the process. Go see John - you won't regret it!

I've been a client at this location, both for classes and personal training, for a year.Classes are HIIT circuit-style with various equipment (weights, bands, ropes, medicine balls, etc.). Every class is different so you don't get bored. With Covid-19 they're only doing only small-group classes with attendees staying in place with dedicated equipment (no rotating/sharing).Good prices and great service. I'd recommend both the classes and training.
