As someone who loves martial arts, I highly recommend this school. I’ve been studying jiu jitsu for almost 7 months now and I’m in love with it. The dojo is amazing, along with my fellow classmates and sensei who taught me so much and more.

I have had the pleasure to learn self-defense through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past year and half with Professor Chad Kight. This has literally been the best time of my life. I have found confidence, some awesome BJJ moves, but most importantly a family.

LOVE coach Chad and everyone at Sugarland MMA!!! We are a second family here. Learning self defense is a must for all kids and jiu jitsu teaches kids how to practice fighting but not hurt each other. Definitely an investment that’s worth it.

The training I have received from Chad kight in the past few years have been eye opening. We all have a projected image of who we think we are. Training under a Gracie black belt will show you who you are.......and help you become a better you. Come in for a class.....see for yourself. It's only 1 hour......think of how much you can gain. The hardest part is showing up but you can do it.

I barely had any martial arts experience. Yet that did not stop the staff and members from welcoming me with open arms. However, I wanted to try other schools to see if it was the right thing for me. I can honestly that there is nothing better than learning from Professor Chad Kight at Sugar Land MMA. He is a Royce Gracie professor level black belt and a certified Jeet Kune Do instructor under Paul Vunak. Any where else you would have to pay extra for the moves you learn at SLMMA but it is all included with a great price. Then you have some awesome big name people in the MMA world to teach seminars. Signing up to be apart of the SLMMA family is the best thing I have ever done and it quite literally saved my life.I never thought I would love a martial art as much as I love BJJ and learning at SLMMA.You will not regret it.

The children's instructors (Steven & Presley) are amazing. They're attentive, caring, through, and very able. Not to mention very professional and sweet. But that is where the good parts of this place end. The owner Chad was rude and combative when he called me regarding a negative review I wrote (that he erased on FB). I have been in martial arts a good part of my life in various styles and schools. Chad however, runs SL-MMA like a corporation rather than a community martial arts school. His location charges a hefty premium to join for classes that are only 2 days a week which are over crowded with no room for parents and visitors to sit and watch. Very often he holds these seminars for the kids that he charges a fee for to squeeze out more funds. Then to top it off, which is new to me, he charges students for belt tests. As if the student needs to pay to move up a level. I have never seen this at any school. Even though the belt test fee is "only $50", if you add up all the extra charges it all seems like a money making scheme to milk money rather than to run a martial arts school in the community run under the logo of "MMA". Lastly, the kids classes are over crowded and the AC only seems to be on when Chad arrives, other wise the school runs on a fan. All of this is highly unprofessional.

I absolutely love Professor Chad and didn’t think twice for signing up for his classes after my first class. His staff and the environment is so welcoming and encouraging. I love the honesty and feedback that’s given as well. Even though there’s plenty of people in the room, Professor Chad will always have his eyes on everyone (so don’t try to cheat a move). I wish I signed up sooner. If I could give a 100 stars I would.

I love everything about SLMMA. Coach Chad is such an excellent teacher and makes sure you learn the techniques. My 2 daughters started their classes first and then I fell in love with this martial art and began my journey as well. This gym doesn’t make you feel that you’re there just to train, but it makes you feel part of a family.

Sensei Chad is the heart and soul of SL MMA. His dedication, discipline and patience with his students is inspiring and shows that he’s committed to his craft and loves bestowing his talents to those willing to learn. Highly recommend for all ages!!

I'm a professional kids entertainer/clown/juggler and needed a place to help me destress, loosen up a bit, and reach a new physicial level. The yoga classes are exceptional, the Jiu Jitsu training is the best in the State. Chad Knight teaches at a pace that takes account everyone's level of training. I signed up because I was looking for a boost in confidence and not only did I connect with that immediately I also started being mentally more at peace than I ever have. You deserve to take classes here, I highly recommend it.
