De Boa Jiu Jitsu Academy

Great studio and owners. Everyone is so helpful and make you you feel welcome. If you are a beginner you will get tons of help from the instructors and other members, and if you are advanced you will find an amazing jiujitsu family. I highly recommend them.

Went to the 6am class this morning. Visiting from another gym and looking to cross train a couple days a week. That can sometimes bring the egos out, but not here!Everyone was so welcoming, made me feel like I belonged there. Multiple blackbelts on the mats at 6am. Really great instruction and details. The instructors made the techniques fun easy to understand.The rounds after class were fun and controlled.Academy is super clean and the culture is awesome.

My expectations were super high for this place, as I have a friend that trains here and speaks highly of the team and instructors. But even those were blown away with how great this place is. The instruction was fantastic and everyone I got the opportunity to roll with was friendly and game. Andrew, the instructor, wrecked me over and over in the way only a highly skilled black belt can. It's an amazing feeling to have someone so skilled they turn every move you make into a mistake. I'm honestly sad my time here is so short, as I would absolutely make this my home academy. There's lots of bjj in the area, make sure this is the academy you prioritize if you're visiting, and the first place you check out if you live here and are looking to get into jiu-jitsu.

My first official BJJ experience. I can not stress enough about how satisfied I have been with my short time at De Boa. The only change I would make is that I started training sooner. I will miss this gym and the people whom I trained with. If I were not required to relocate for my job. I would gladly continue training.

The culture of this academy is seriously the best I’ve ever experienced. Vary warm and welcoming with the perfect balance of seriousness and humor. The kids class is top notch, the adult class is just as great. All you got to do is keep showing up. After a few months of training, I bought my 2 kids and myself lifetime memberships. It’s been one of the best things that’s happened to all of us.

This Jiu Jitsu academy is excellent. The training area is new and spacious. Plenty of stadium style seating for parents to watch. They even have a play area for smaller kids to hangout. The coaching staff is awesome, a direct reflexion to the dedication of the owners leadership. They not only teach traditional techniques, they instill discipline to become good training partners and good sportsmanship. They offer child to adult classes at all levels. I highly recommend.

All three of my kids love training at De Boa. Everyone is like one big family. It is a safe and friendly place to learn Jiu Jitsu at your own pace and level. The coaches are incredible, they teach your kids so much more than just JJ. My kids are learning how to be good humans as well.

Both Andrew and Leslie are amazing people. They are THE place to train if you are on the west side. They are very welcoming and have allowed my son and I to drop in and train often with their students. The aesthetics of the gym put off the best positive/fun vibes and the mats are packed with very talented and friendly people. If you are in the Peoria/Surprise area and want to train BJJ in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment this is your new home.

When I was training overseas, I heard nothing but great things about De Boa Jiu Jitsu Academy. I moved to AZ and once settled down I visited the gym. I was greeted by Professor Andrew along with other amazing coaches. They were very welcoming and so were the other team members. After 2 sessions I knew I wanted to attend this academy and signed up! To describe this place in some words: inspirational, motivational, discipline, dedication, fitness, family. This gym is very welcoming to all ages and all levels of any MMA backgrounds. I have three kids who love jiu-jitsu and want to be world champions. When the level and frequency of training needed to achieve that goal was not available in our hometown of Rapid City, SD, we moved 1,250 miles across the country solely to train at De Boa; we bought a house right across the street from the academy. We have never regretted it for one moment. It was the best decision we've ever made. That should tell you everything you need to know about Andrew and Leslie. The way they run the kids' program is unlike any other I know, and it *will* be copied and propagated to kids' programs all over the world in the coming years. Watch and see.
