Ok gym. Small. No sauna or steam room. But gets the job done. Has lots of weights and large cardio room

Active, all the basic facilities can be a bit crowded during popular times.Update: just reopened after a week closure, they repainted and updated some signage.

If you want to pay premium pricing for a small dusty hole in the wall with out-dated equipment, lack of space/cleaning supplies, and power-tripping management, this is the place for you.

This gym is clean but smaller than most other 24hour fitness. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was not crowded.

Great gym. Compact. Easy to see next equipment you’ll use. Easy parking. Toilets could use updating. No showers.

Mediocre. Not for someone looking to get some space. Qt certain days and times, it will be crowded, but cleanliness here is practiced. Just the lack of more equipments. This gym is meant for people who wants to do workouts with mostly free weights.

Small but they have everything you need.Yeah it's not a massive place but it's nice for the community.I love the exercise classes as well. By far my favorite is body pump. The free weight section is a bit awkward since there is not a clear place to stand... but most people find a way to work around it.If there was another 24 closer... maybe I'd give this less stars... but for the convenience I have it 5! (Also for the classes)

This gym is a little bit small in comparison to most of the 24 hours, but honestly it has everything. Mimi’s pilates class on Wednesdays & Saturdays is the BEST, and you’ll get the best workout while having a good time.

For a small gym, this place has more variety of machines and particularly abdominal machines than almost any other gym I have been to. The staff are friendly and it's kept relatively clean. The only thing I would observe is that too many people seem to feel that covering your mouth and leaving your nose. Uncovered is adequate in terms of face masks. Make sure you bring a good quality one yourself at least until omicron is no longer a thing.

TLDR: Confusing Maintenance with Renovations/Upgrades. Taking advantage of a loyal customer base and management refuses to do more than the bare minimum.Hello! I just wanted to start the review off by stating that I have been regularly attending this gym for the past year, five days a week. Additionally, I attended this facility off and on throughout my high school years as well. I still intend to utilize this gym until I get the time to research a better alternative. I am not an individual to go out of my way and write reviews, but I was particularly inspired by their recent 'upgrades' to this facility.Pros:-The Staff are very welcoming and polite for the most part. They remember regulars and treat the guests with integrity, often walking around the facility simply to re rack weights.- The community in which this gym is based is largely the reason I feel personally it has been able to stick around despite it's outdated nature. I, personally, have not had any negative interactions while exercising hereCons:- Firstly, this does not have to do with Castro Valley 24 Hour specifically, but they did fail to mention a semi-annual fee as well as other hidden rates that I was not aware of when initially creating a membership. My younger sister (age 23) is paying 34$ monthly versus my $47 despite having the exact same perks.- In this current meta of misinformation and predatory marketing, when I was told the gym I frequented for years would be receiving upgrades, I was ecstatic. This facility has stayed nearly identical during the near two decades I have visited. With only a closing timeline of less than a week, I truly wondered what they could possible accomplish in that time. Perhaps AC? New Weights? Nope, we got some signs and basic maintenance. Maintenance is not renovating or upgrading. They retiled the locked rooms, fixed some machines and called it a day. There is nothing 'new' about the gym at all. Perhaps I am being to judgmental :D.-During the week the gym was "renovating", I spent the time attending the other 24 hour gyms in the bay area only to find Castro Valley lacks many of the modern accommodations found elsewhere. Rarely have I seen the introduction of a new machine or a repair that's permanent. Nothing wrong with old machines as they get the job done, but after decades of business you'd think that at least some visible change would be present. Perhaps not.For a gym that heavily relies on regular members it was a bit disappointing to see nothing really was done. The same tricep dip machine is going to be broken once a week, and summers in this gym continue to be torture. I love working out here and only wish that signs of growth would follow.
