24 Hour Fitness in Castro Valley offers a compact gym experience with a range of machines and free weights. The gym is conveniently located, and the staff are consistently praised for their friendliness and welcoming nature. It's a suitable spot for locals to grab a quick workout and enjoy the sense of community fostered by regular members and attentive staff.

However, the gym falls short in several areas. Equipment is often outdated and poorly maintained, with frequent breakdowns causing inconvenience. The facility is small and crowded during peak times, limiting availability of machines. Despite being labeled 24 Hour Fitness, the gym does not operate round-the-clock, leading to further dissatisfaction among members.

  • Clean gym environment.
  • Good variety of cardio machines.
  • Offers classes like pilates and body pump.
  • Nice and respectful gym community.
  • Sufficient basic equipment for a workout.
  • Easy parking available.
  • Staff regularly clean and walk around doing checks.
  • Some new equipment introduced recently.

Cons:

  • Outdated and frequently breaking equipment.
  • Very crowded at peak times.
  • Limited operation hours despite the 24 Hour Fitness name.

The people and the staff at this gym is great, but the facility is small and underequipped, with machines often breaking down and never actually being repaired. There are only two flat benches and two squat racks (one of which has the only deadlift platform). In my experience, unless I go really early in the morning, I have to wait long periods of time to use equipment. On some unfortunate occasions, my entire workout has been ruined by this. Apparently they are currently renovating the facility, so hopefully they address these issues.

I enjoy coming to this facility. 1 it’s close to home and 2 it has everything I need to get a good workout. I enjoy going early to avoid the crowds. The staff that open the gym Mon.-Fri. are always friendly and welcoming. I feel they are more welcoming than the later staff, but that’s just my opinion. Excited to see what it will look like after renovations!

FANTASTIC place to workout. Steve and Porscha are the best, when it comes to managing and teaching their people how to run a club. I highly recommend this place.

Been back to this for 3 weeks since Covid pandemic... but do not like their new check in system as I do not take my phone into gym. The other option is to present my driver's license....which is definitely not touchless.

Horrible experience today at the Castro Valley 24 hour fitness location. The General Manager accused my friend and I of training each other just ONE day after reopening during this pandemic. We were simply trying to get a good workout in because we have been so limited the last couple months. He was extremely rude and I will most definitely be cancelling my membership that I’ve had for YEARS and looking to support another gym nearby.

A Smaller 24 hour fitness but the stuff and the members are respectful, it’s just that some of the machines need to be updated.ProsNice members (usually people sanitize after the use a machine)Nice staff ( the usual welcome and have a good night with a smile)ConsSmall(although usually the space not crowded)Some machines are old

The staff is very friendly and it has everything you need. They also do a good job with routinely wiping down equipment and walking around doing their gym checks. I will say, however, the equipment is REALLY old. The cables machines break relatively often. Despite being old, however, they all still work. The club also got some new equipment over the pandemic - namely some cables, rubber plates, ab rollers, etc. The club is a little small compared to some of the other gyms and don't have some amenities such as pool, bball courts, turf, etc - but if you just want to squeeze in a workout, it'll work just fine.

24 should be ashamed of themselves for this location.
