The process of becoming healthy and active can certainly be a difficult one. When I signed up for a gym membership at Steel Beach I definitely had no idea I would enjoy going to the gym. Investing in a personal trainer has helped me to become accountable and to motivate me to make necessary changes in my life.Sly Manente is my personal trainer at Steel Beach gym. He has been informative and a crucial catalyst for necessary change. He understands the struggle and works with not only the physical aspect of fitness and diet, but also the mental component.I recently attended my first group class ( Spin) on Saturday morning . The instructor was incredibly helpful and supportive. I honestly, never thought I would enjoy a class; however, I really loved it! I highly recommend Steel Beach gym to individuals of all fitness levels!

I'm NOT a gym rat by no stretch of the imagination but this gym is similar to a gold gym environment. Nothing like what you see in the Planet Fitness commercials. Good amount of equipment. The building doesnt give off a "gym" vibe. …

Have had more gym memberships then I care to remember. Been member here now couple months so here is my take. Value for dues reasonable. Lots of equipment to use. Staff seems friendly helpful. My biggest issue with this gym is quality of air very poor air circulation. Couple of fans blowing stale hot air around. The lower level has alot of wasted space which could be better utilized which to access it cost more money and honestly it's not worth it unless you are into power lifting heavy but then it's a gym why pay more to? Staff needs to be more proactive about members not leaving plates on equipment after exercising. So basically why 3 stars.

I signed up in January of this year. And started training in February under one of their personal trainers. The difference between this place and the gym with the yellow and purple logo is like night and day. The yellow and purple colored gym is not invested building fitness in its members in my opinion. It is invested in cliches and franchising. This a great place to meet your goals whether it is weight loss or muscle building, nutrition as the Black Market Kitchen nearby discounts their food ten percent off for members of the gym. Its staff take a professional and courteous interest into helping you achieve the best results. They want to sincerely help you and they support your gains and help you if you fall down from your goals. And that is key here. The gym is always busy.. but busy in the sense that you see a community growing. Three floors strong of people dedicated to improving themselves with effort and commitment. I have been to many gyms in Connecticut you can't find better than that in this area and that is saying a lot. This is Steel Beach Gym and I am very glad I am member here.

Don't go there between the hours of 5- 8 pm because it's a madhouse. It's not a bad place, slightly dilapidated and outdated equipment but a good bargain for what they charge. Be wary of a good majority of kidiots and douche bags who have a …

If you're looking for some upscale, shiny Globo Gym, don't bother. This place is local, clean, has an awesome staff and the rates are reasonable. The machines aren't the fanciest, and sometimes are busted, but I'd never go anywhere else. The fact that I still have a double chin is on me, not them.

I have been a member of several gyms (the edge, planet fitness, as well as a few in the Boston area) and this gym is one of the best. The membership price is spot on with what they offer. I love going to the different classes (boot-camp, body sculpt, yoga) and the staff is always very pleasant. The amount of equipment they have is also really great. My past gyms were always missing something, they were too small or didn't offer classes or their trainers weren't that great. World Gym has a nice balance of everything.

I have been to several gyms and World Gym is my favorite . They have plenty of machines and there is rarely a wait to use one . The place is very clean and that is important to me . Most of all the staff is very cordial and courteous . They actually talk to you using your name . PW
