I went in to Xcel when Covid started to cancel my membership in March 2020. I was told it would be suspended (no further charges) as a courtesy and that way I could start it back up again later if I chose to. I later sent an email asking to just terminate the membership. I mistyped "xcelfitness" as "excelfitness" and I find they've been charging me for 18 months on a membership the front desk told me was suspended. Trying to find someone to speak to there who is in charge is impossible. They are never in. Be careful about dealing with these people.

The gym is the perfect environment for exercising. Clean, modern, organized, and the management are top notch. Nate has a very respectable reputation as a very trustworthy man and has a high amount of integrity

Had to update my review, went to workout at 7:30 and got kicked out the CrossFit area because I couldn’t make the 6:30 class. This is dumb. Might as well pay $20 at vasa

Xcel Fitness is hands down the best gym in Utah. There is plenty of space and equipment and you never find yourself waiting for a set of dumbbells. The employees are super friendly and they have a wonderful snack bar with protein shakes, sandwiches, protein bars, etc.

James is just a great trainer. He is professional, very knowledgeable about the musculature-skeletal framework, very knowledgeable about the current and best uses of the equipment, funny, and very personable. My wife, Cathy and i recommend him highly. Although Cathy quit the EXCEL gym, i will continue to go there once i feel more safe with the Covid.

I recommend to never sign up with them. Everything is ok for as long as you use the gym but once you cancel, they show their real face. I did not use the gym forever, froze my membership at $15 per month for not using it, due to Covid and how gym members acted during Covid. Now where I finally cancelled and they got all those monthly freeze payments in addition to the regular bi-annual gym maintenance payments of $25 for a gym I do not use, they charge me $85 for another month of not using the gym because they pretend that they can not cancel a frozen membership. If you do not agree, they do not allow you to cancel, defacto holding you hostage. So, you are forced to pay for using the gym when you cancel due to none use. None of that is made clear when you sign up with them. So, not using the gym and trying to get out of the contract cost me to date about $400!!!!!! Greed is a total understatement for that, and all that during Covid. Totally shameless. When you point out that $300 should be enough for not using the gym instead of $400 you are being called names by Xcel Fitness, being called disgruntled. That speaks for itself and shows how Xcel Fitness really thinks about its customers. And as we are on it - that silly T-Shirt I was supposed to get more than 2 years ago when signing up, that make you feel important customer pitch, I never got. They did not have my size and once they cashed in on the membership fees they had no more motivation to get me one even though I asked several times. Was not important to them I guess as they already accomplished their goal, getting another person on autopay. And then there was the employee who liked to often close down the hot tub during gym hours because he did not want to do the cleaning after hours, blocking high paying clients from using the facility as advertised and contracted. But hey, customers who do not like being treated poorly are quickly called disgruntled. Who knows if you happen to read this, you might be the next one being called that way if you have an issue with how they conduct business. So, prepare yourself. The moment you do not submit a positive review, you are fair game for Xcel management.

I've been going since May of 2020. I decided to change take care of my health through fitness. I decided to chat with Matt and was very welcoming, he helped ease a lot of my worries when it comes to fitness and how I can get started.I decided to get a personal trainer and Matt assigned me with Aubrey since I was looking to make a full lifestyle change, from working out to nutrition. Aubrey has been amazing and very understanding. We set short and long term goals to push. I have my slip ups or have insecurities on my progress and Aubrey is fantastic on helping me get back on track, never making me feel ashamed (which I do all on my own already) , and does a great job get me focused back to my goals.9 Months later and I am down 7% bodyfat and lost 10lbs while gaining lean muscle mass. I only focus on comparing myself to where I was before and the progress I make. I have developed better habits with small steps each day. Everyone there, including the other patrons, are happy to see you and the progress you make. This was the best decision I have made for turning my life around in my 30s.
