I started training with Matt 6 months ago because I’m in my mid 60’s and I know that I’m loosing muscle to fat. Each session he taught me exercises to help me achieve my goals. Also, he shared his knowledge about the physiology of each exercises and how and why it benefited me. I’m feeling stronger, leaner and healthier and look forward to continuing on this journey to fitness.

Honestly, after training with Matt I realized how you should train your body instead of just lugging weights at the gym and using all kinds of fancy machines. I used to train with a physical trainer before and boy was I in pain after every session and not feeling that I was getting strong at all. Lifts were always causing me problems on the lower back and he would hardly give pointers to correct the same. I came across Matt's profile on Thumbtack while I was looking to switch coaches and finally I found the right coach who gives complete attention to the client for the session correcting mistakes till you get how to do the movement properly. It is a slow process and Matt has incredible patience, because you need to build strength to pull of a complex lift correctly. The results are now starting to show after training with him for 3 months - I can do proper deadlifts, kettlebell swings, complex movements and add to that my short term goal of doing proper pullups. His training methods improved my posture and my constant back pain is gone and I can see the difference in my strength. If you are looking for a coach who gives you proper attention and makes you work towards your personal strength goal, Matt is the coach you are looking for. He keeps the session fun and throws a new challenge every time to keep things interesting!

Matt was a phenomenal teacher and created a program that best fit my needs. His enthusiasm, attention to detail and focus on fundamentals was exactly what I needed to get stronger and flexible. More importantly, I learned a lot about the fundamentals to lifting. Highly recommend him to anyone interested in getting great coaching and motivation.

I found Strength Farm and Matt while shopping for a trainer to help me to get stronger fast. At 34 years old, with a very busy life and only a few week to train before I headed off to Basic Training with the Army National Guard, I showed up and saw huge results. Matt utilized very simple, doable strength training techniques paired with consistency; along with awesome coaching, encouragement and accountability I went from not being able to do one push up to 15 in a few short weeks. In those few short weeks I gained many simple strength building tasks I now have on my belt to take with me even after our training together. Matt is invested to his clients and as your trainer you will experience his passion in helping others to achieve their strength goals. I felt a great community vibe from this gym though due to my time constraints I was only able to invest in a short amount of time here, and I will already miss going to my training days. Definitely would go back. Highly recommended, good trainers make all the difference!

Matt is a extremely knowledgeable and detailed trainer. He evaluated my specific needs eg. (very sore biceps tendon from too much swimming ) and helped me build up and strengthen the surrounding muscels so i could recover. Also, he has helped me strengthen the areas that needed to be enhanced so that i could be a much stronger 72 year old man. It is quite evident to me that he is very studious in his knowledge of the body and how it functions so that he is always aware of anything that would be harmful to me. Thanks Matt , your great.

I came to Matt after a concussion because I didn’t know what I could do to work out safely. He was able to provide many modifications and unique exercises to make the most of where I was in my recovery. He was always checking in along the way too. Once I was approved to work out harder, he created balanced sequences and programs based on my fitness goals. He pushes when you need a push and provides constructive movement tips to make sure you get the most from training. As a former trainer and physician assistant, I am *very* picky with who I trust with my programming. Matt has been so great that my husband now works out with him as well. I would *highly* recommend Secrest Speed and Performance no matter your goals or current fitness level. Do yourself a favor and make this a priority for your self-care!

Matt is everything you want in a personal trainer; he creates challenging programs tailored to your personal goals and abilities, pushes you when you have more to give and modifies when you have nothing left. I came to Matt 4 months ago after my Wife started training with him. Having limited strength training experience myself, I was fully reliant on Matt to teach me everything from basics lifts to complex moves while only giving him one day a week to do so. In every session, he provides continued feedback for proper form or modifications to ensure wholistic health and avoiding injury. The knowledge, strength gains and confidence planning workouts on my own between sessions has been truly astounding with so much credit going to him! He’s friendly while still being able to push you just enough past your mental limits to continue down the path towards your evolving goals. I would recommend Matt to anyone looking for personalized training, he’ll help you get from wherever you are to wherever you want to be!
