Absolutely recommend. I remember working across the street from Quest Fittness at a local coffee shop. I've been pursuing a career with the Grand Rapids Fire Department for over a year in half. One of the challenges of the application process was the Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT). I failed it the first time. Ray would come in to the coffee shop often to get coffee and one day I asked if he could help me train for the next physical test. We analyzed exactly what I needed to do and we worked at it for 2 months to build up my strength endurance and confidence. Ray is very adaptable and knowledgable at training individuals based on what their goals are and has many of the resources you need to succeed. I passed the physical test the 2nd time and crushed it. I now have moved on the application process and Quest Fittness played a huge role in my journey that I am thankful for. If you have something you are working towards I highly recommend this gym!

Ray was awesome, he's funny and very nice, while also pushing you and encouraging you. His helper Appa always gives hugs and opens the door. He's a great workout companion! I like the small comfortable atmosphere and the massages are nice too. Just ask around a really great place with great people.

Highly recommend Quest Fitness! As a person who has always struggled from viewing workouts as a chore, Ray Shonk has been helping me to reframe that. I continue to view my workouts as time for self-care!The whole atmosphere of Quest Fitness has been nothing but welcoming and encouraging. I can only speak for the Beast Mode Boot Camp class at the moment, but every class has been equal parts challenging and fun! Ray reminds everyone to go at their own pace as doing the workout forms correctly is a priority. No matter what level you are at, it's never too late to start or continue your fitness journey here at Quest.Since I've started classes with Ray, I've been able to do better pushups and squats that have ultimately helped me feel stronger at whatever I do in life. Already looking forward to the next calisthenics class!

I have been working out with Ray for the last four years. He always has new and challenging workouts. His workouts are just hard enough to get a good workout but, not too hard where you can’t get through them. I always leave his gym feeling accomplished and energized. Furthermore, Ray really cares about helping people meet their fitness goals. He has helped me get stronger and lose weight.

I didn’t start training with Ray at Quest Fitness until my late 40’s. At the time, I had doubts about how much someone my age could accomplish. Here I am, 6 years later, and I am the strongest and fittest I have ever been in my life! Ray and the staff at Quest are so amazing! They make you feel welcome and encourage you every step of the way. I highly recommend Quest Fitness for anyone at any age! You never know what you are capable of until you get the right training and Quest will give you just that. So thankful for Ray!

It's truly difficult to overstate how amazing Ray is. Quest is such a welcoming, inclusive, and low-pressure space to start your fitness journey and Ray really and truly cares about all of his clients. He helped me kickstart my fitness journey and even though I was only able to train for a month and a half before a sudden move, his tips, guidance, and encouragement have helped me continue that journey. It's honestly a gem in GR and incredibly affordable for some of the most supportive and educational personal training anywhere.

My experience with quest has been positive from the very start. Ray was quick to respond to my questions and their pricing is very reasonable. I never thought that I could afford a personal trainer, but the experience has been so beneficial that it would be worth twice the cost. Over the last six months I have been working with Megan Russell at Quest Fitness and have seen an increase in both my fitness and my confidence. She has ensured that I am working hard while maintaining good form and working around past injuries of mine. I highly recommend Quest fitness.

I went to Quest to attend the Danny Kavadlo Calisthenics Experience. Ray was super accommodating to my husband and I as we were coming from Milwaukee, WI and we decided at the last minute to attend. I am SO GLAD WE DID. Ray and his whole crew are amazing. Warm, welcoming, and really amazing people are getting super strong at Quest!I am a personal trainer, coach, and workplace wellness advocate. I would send anyone to Quest and to work with Ray with 100% confidence. The programming is safe and effective for every kind of human machine.Ray and the crew are friendly and encouraging. The people at Quest believe in you, and are cheering for you every step of the way. At the workshop I did things that I never thought were attainable. I have long legs, a limited amount of experience with calisthenics, and inversions and flags have been elusive and scary to someone like me.With the support of everyone, I did a headstand! And almost a full pull-up! And a ton of other stuff! I surprised myself and I give a huge amount of the credit to the group at Quest for their positivity and encouragement. The group energy taps into a part of you where you can find that "extra mile" courage. If you are on the fence about trying, pull the trigger and try with Ray and the great people at Quest Fitness. You can do it!(All photos are courtesy of Ray @ Quest. Thanks for taking & sharing, Ray!)

I have been working with Ray at Quest for a year now. Ray is a great personal trainer, he has encouraged and challenged me to reach each of my goals that I have set. He listens to what you want to accomplish and sets a workout plan to meet those goals! This is my first experience in working with a personal trainer, Ray makes you feel comfortable while pushing you to achieve your goals! I have never felt better in my life - better than my 30's or 40's! Thanks Ray!!

I have been training with Ray since 2012. My goals have included gaining more functional strength that I can use daily, and better cardiovascular health so I have more energy.By training with him, doing additional workouts on my own, and trying to control my diet better I have gone from about 200 pounds to about 220. I have gained a lot of chest and arm size, coordination in martial arts, and can do a couple dozen standard push-ups on demand.Quest Fitness and the owner, Ray, can really help you achieve goals! He had numerous certifications for different kinds of sports training.
