I’d give it a 5 if the nooks and crannies of the old men’s bathroom and showers got cleaned more thoroughly.

The Asheville Y is such a positive community. I really enjoy the classes - I've never been a class person until I joined this Y. Tim in particular is a positive influence on the whole environment and a great class instructor.

I'm grateful for the Financial Assistance program allowing me to pay based off of my income. It is really great for me to be using the gym. I go swimming about 3-4 times a week and it's great for my mental health. The staff are always awesome and knowledgeable as well.

Great place to have your workouts. The only place in town to get a good handball game, too. In fact, if you play, cmon down and meet some of the other seasoned players.

The November pool schedule has put an unacceptable restriction on the ability to swim during what has been the busiest time for paying members to use the pool. Instead of allowing the working people who have jobs from 9-5 to swim, the YMCA has decided to rent the swim lanes out to a swim team of non-members who have no affiliation with the YMCA.The pool is also routinely closed because the YMCA cannot staff the facility appropriately. Amenities are constantly out of order such as exercise equipment, sauna, steam room. When a member is found to be violating a rule it will normally go completely unaddressed. However, when it is addressed management chooses to punish all members of the gym rather than confront and individual member who is behaving poorly.Within the past couple of months membership fees were raised AGAIN, this time claiming it was to ensure that amenities remain functioning and to return to normal business hours. The rates increased but nothing else was done, equipment is consistently broken and the YMCA still closes early. This building is the most accessible and complete athletic center in Asheville. However, it is managed so poorly that it is a constant roadblock to any wellness plan. Asheville would be much better served by this Y if it were under new management, or if it were sold to a gym franchise that cares a little bit about its members.
