Amped Fitness (Birmingham)

There are good and bad things about Amped Fitness, but overall it just wasn't for me. The 24/7 access is awesome and the facility is very nice and always clean. There is plenty of equipment (unless you go from 5-8pm when it is jam-packed) and it is all seemingly brand new. The price is also stellar.However, there are some really bothersome things as well. They absolutely blare music throughout the building and you can't escape it even with noise cancelling headphones. There is also just a general culture that empowers everything newcomers fear about gyms. Steroid dudes screaming, mirror selfies a-plenty and an empowerment of that type of behavior. That may be more of a turnoff for some than others, but it is worth noting. For me, -- someone who values working out as a cathartic time to spend an hour listening to podcast or music and focusing on achieving goals -- it wasn't a good fit. Aside from the music and culture, it is an awesome gym.Update: I went into the gym and cancelled my membership in September and they keep charging me every month. I don’t live anywhere near there anymore so I can’t go in person and they never pick up the phone or answer emails. Please give me my $40 back.

I enjoy going to Amped Fitness Birmingham. The staff is very welcoming and all of the equipment is clean and well maintained. Definitely recommend for the great atmosphere and price point, not to mention the Amped culture is unlike any other!

My favorite gyms I’ve been too. This is my home gym now after being at the YMCA forever. The atmosphere is awesome and the people are even better. The Amped staff has made this the place to be.

This is my favorite gym Ive ever gone to. The staff us always friendly (like, in a a look forward to interacting with them when I walk in the door kind of way), the facilities are well-kept, and the free weight and machine selection is ample. If you need an reason to get fit, this gym is it.

If you cancel your membership MAKE sure you get something in writing to show you have cancelled your membership. Membership was cancelled however they don't show it in their system. Went in and of course nothing they can do about it but cancel it going forward. Don't rely on "their system" to email you the cancellation, get them to print it out on the spot.Guess they REALLY need that $50.And if you read the other reviews LOTS of folks unhappy with management and the staff that should tell you something.***********Amp fitness owner they do not show anything in the system to send me. Hence why in my first post I said to make sure you get a print out or something in writing that your membership was cancelled.If you TRULY strive for 5 Star ratings as you say you would refund my money and then I would remove my comment.

This is the best gym ever, and for only $10 a month! Lots of good free weights and machines. My favorite workers are Brady and Nick, they are so dreamy😍 …

Wonderful gym. Staff has been very friendly. They have a wide array of equipment and plenty of them. Clean bathrooms and friendly environment.

Never been in the doors except to cancel services not rendered. I came in the facility to cancel on Black Friday 2021 along with my daughter, and her best friend. The staff member at that time told us he didn't know how to get us canceled. However he would take our name and numbers and give it to the proper person. I clearly told him (all of us did) that it was very inconvenient for us to come back. We were more than willing to sign any documentation required at that time. He was kind, and seemed honest he simply didn't have the knowledge of where the documents were located in they system for us to sign. He assured us he would handle it for us. Since then All three of us have been charged a monthly fee. After many months, I am still being charged for services that I have not rendered. The front desk manager just told me that they do not have a record of me coming in the gym to cancel. However, my daughters best friend went back to the facility a second time at the end of January and complained that she was still being charged. They finally credited her. Meanwhile, I was told this morning that the staff member working on Black Friday doesn't have any recollection of the three of us coming in... Hmm. The manager frankly does not care one way or the other if he rips people off. He proceeded to inform me of the cancelation policy. I asked him to please email me the form and I would sign it and return it. He said NO. That's not the policy that have implemented. Please check with the BBB before signing up with this facility. They have numerous complaints.

love this gym!! been going here for over a year nice equipment, plenty of machines, amazing friendly staff! amped 10/10

Overall, the gym itself is fine. Good equipment and plenty of it, however, they rely on clients to clean and rack weights. Despite having plenty of staff seemingly with nothing to do, they walk around the gym and police the spraying down of machines in a rude manner.Would like to see the staff do some actual work in regards to cleaning equipment and keeping weights organized rather than bi*ching at clientele.
