A family more than anything. The coaches are extremely involved and attentive to each student and their needs. They include everyone in the class at all times. I am so grateful that my son has joined the team!

6/5 BJJ training. Has two mat areas and great coaches. Really awesome family feel for the team. Training comes from a lot of experience and everyone is very supportive. But dont think it will be a cake walk coming in. High quality instructionals for techniques and great warmups. Its hard, but people can do hard things.

This is a great place to have your child train Jiu Jitsu. Coach Ed, Coach April, and Coach John are great with the kids. They engage with the kids and are patient with them. There is the right balance of fun and seriousness with the classes. They make sure the kids are being safe when performing the moves and make sure the moves are done right along with the kids being good teammates. Coach Ed has created a positive and welcoming environment. You can see that by the way the kids carry themselves and properly engage with the other kids and coaches. As much as I love seeing my son improve in Jiu Jitsu the biggest improvement is what I've seen at home. My son was very difficult in certain areas and I knew he needed something like Jiu Jitsu. One of my favorite things Coach Ed does is how he makes Jiu Jitsu a lifestyle. It is not only important to act right while training but also at home and school. That has created the biggest change in my son. The kids have a job list that they can turn in every month which helps keep them accountable at home. The first few months we saw small changes but now after 8 months I can see big changes at home. He is sleeping through the night, bedtime is easier, he is calmer and nicer to his little brother, has more control over his emotions, listens better, gaining confidence, and the list goes on. Another great thing I've seen since he started is the positive impact of going to class after a rough day at school. He leaves with a smile after engaging with the kids along with the coaches and just doing Jiu Jitsu. I use to have to ask if he wanted to go to class now he asks me if we can go. I have nothing but positive things to say.

Had the opportunity to train at @frequencymartialarts in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. Incredibly well kept and CLEAN facility with a fantastic Instructor, Coach Ed, and equally awesome group of training partners. 10/10 would recommend! 🤙 I hope to return some day in the future. …

Took my son in for a free class after a pretty lengthy email exchange with the owner, Ed, about what we might be looking to get from practicing Jiu Jitsu. It was really clear that he cared about what he was doing, and is proud of his approach and his business.Watching my son’s first class, I was really impressed. The coaching staff are engaging, communicate very well with kids, and clearly love what they are doing. These youth classes don’t feel like youth classes. They are fun, engaging sessions, but they are learning legitimate moves, positions and tactics. There is a strong sense of accountability and discipline in the air during class, without a hint of intimidation. The vibe continues to impress me even after I’ve taken my son in twice a week for the last 3 months. My son really likes Jiu Jitsu. He loves explaining to people about what he’s learning, and he’s making friends, and is definitely getting stronger and more flexible. He’s proud of himself when he’s working positions and running reps with his teammates.I absolutely recommend Frequency Martial Arts.

I have been training about a month and I could not be happier with the decision to start my journey at Frequency and with Professor Ed.I work third shift so finding a gym with a time slot was challenging to fit my schedule. Frequency has so many training times available that it’s hard not to find at least one class to attend. Walking through the door day one, with zero BJJ experience was intimidating, but each teammate welcomed me. They make sure you fully understand a technique before practicing and encourage you to ask questions. Also, if you are a LEO, Frequency is the place for you.

An amazing school! They pride themselves in keeping a clean safe school to learn and grow. They offer so many classes throughout the week it will fit anyones schedule and you get to train as much as you want. I have been training jui jitsu for about 2.5 years and have been at frequency for about 7 months. The atmosphere has been very welcoming and like a second home to me. I train almost everyday and sometimes multiple times a day. Jui Jitsu has given me something to keep me motivated when work and home life has been stressful. I couldn’t recommend frequency and jui jitsu in general enough.

This is a great place to drop in and get some good jiu jitsu. The coach and everyone were very welcoming. I was just visiting so it was nice to find a place like this for the day I was in town.
