TruFit Athletic Clubs - Sunrise Mall

DO NOT VISIT HERE. Signed up for a membership and made sure to ask the sales associate multiple times about any additional fees to I should worry about. Was not given a contract when signing up and was told there were no fees other than the yearly fee. Checked my bank account and saw I got charged additional fees that they failed to mention! I went in person to talk to the lady that signed us up and she told us she forgot to tell us about the fees. Will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and getting in contact with my attorney. Save yourself from a big headache and go to another gym.

Oh Lordy Lordy where do I start :( this place is horrible. The women’s area is so small, it hardly has any equipment and the stuff that is in there doesn’t even work. There was ten treadmills and only one worked. Pathetic. This gym is the newest in Brownsville and it has not been well kept at all. I tried to cancel my membership twice and two of the managers there made it practically impossible. Maria who is now at the Boca chica gym supposedly and some man from Vegas named Yolanda. They were both very misleading, uncaring, & disrespectful. The young staff in the front know little to nothing and can never answer any questions for you. They always had to go get someone from the managers office to answer any small question that was asked. The only person that showed me any respect or kindness was Ms. Crysta the manager. I explained the situation and she helped me finally cancel my membership and get a refund. I will never go back there again or recommend anyone to go there.

This location is very clean and organized. I came in to see if this was a gym I wanted to join and left with a membership. Drew was super helpful and personable. He let me have a day pass so I could get a feel for the gym, and helped me get started with a membership.

Great customer service from the general manager Jennica! I like that they have a sauna & staff was very friendly & welcoming. Equipment is great, will definitely recommend this location to family & friends!

Terrible customer service! Requested a tour with My sister whom has membership and they told her they did not want a “stranger waking around the gym”. The “manager” not welcoming at all and the guy at counter seemed afraid of her. All I wanted was to see the place and what equipment they have to make a decision as to which gym to join. There were 3 “trainers” sitting at a desk and no acknowledgement from them either. So needless to say I will NOT BE JOINING THIS PLACE and my sister is canceling her membership. Not a friendly place at all!!!! Poor STAFF!!!

Love this gym and atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable always seeking to create a good experience for members regardless of the level of exercise and equipment experience. Trainer Cindy is so awesome! She makes working out easy and comfortable allowing me to step out of my comfort zone one and push towards growth. Her knowledge of both body exercises and food intake to help weight loss and body strengthening is superb as she practices what she preaches in her own personal life and shares with others in their journey. Having her as a trainer has been very rewarding and looking forward to continuing my membership with Trufit Sunrise Mall.

I was on a five day pass with tru fitness in sunrise mall brownsville texas. On 2nd day the manager got really pushy on trying to have me sign up to their special. I advised him i wanted try out the gym first and that he is being very pushy. He told me then leave and waved goodbye. What is the purpose of a trial if they dont allow you to try it. This was very upsetting even the female employee told me she apologized for him and that she witnessed what he did. I requested to speak to who was in charge and he said i am and laughed at me. Very poor customer service especially from the person in charge. Horrible horrible avoid this place.

Some workers are super rude. A worker on the front did tell me we needed to have a barcode or the app. Yet they won’t give us the barcode. I also did tell her I left it in the car and told me to go get it, she didn’t even want to scan me with the phone number. I do recommend boca chica, workers are super nice and will help you if anything is needed!

went to sign up , a big thing they forgot to mention was that it was a YEAR CONTRACT . so many equipment but for what when you’re not even told all the information. i spoke with a lady saying she was the “manager” saying i signed the papers so she can’t do nothing about it . she could , tell her workers to explain the whole contract . was a bad experience had to cancel my debit card so they won’t charge it . and found out i wasnt the only one having this experience. make sure to ask if there’s a contract and don’t get a trainer they have a contract to and will make you pay .

Amazing facility. Cant ask for better equipment and options. Tried it as a guest and was still charged even though I’ve never tried this facility but oh well. Would’ve signed up if the day care was open all day as opposed to just a small windows throughout the day(ie 8-12 then 4-8). So I give 3 stars due to charging me for a day pass when I’m new to the facility and bad day care hours.
