True Martial Arts

My son loves going to karate! He is signed up to go twice a week but asks to go everyday! The staff is kind, caring and very diligent! I have seen the tremendous changes their program has made for children who have discipline issues. My nephew was a different kid after Matt the owner, and his staff entered his life!

The staff running the beginner classes has been great with my daughter. She’s been enrolled for about 4 months and I’ve seen major improvements already with her focus and desire to put in work to succeed. She has gotten more fit and she really enjoys all of the jokes and positive reinforcements that get thrown her way each class. I’d recommend this place to everyone.

Both my 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son attend their summer camp and take Karate lessons twice a week. The lessons they learn besides technical proficiency are grit, determination, enthusiasm, and discipline. What makes this place so remarkable is that it has shown my children that you can build all of those important skills and still have fun. The staff is incredibly well trained physically, but they also have tremendous empathy and patience and are able to relate to each kid making them feel special. I am lucky we found this program and recommend it to everyone.

Great place for Karate lessons. The staff is friendly and understanding. The lessons are more than just Karate.You pay for classes on a monthly basis. You can sign a 1 year contract at a reduced rate. Since it can be a commitment, they offer a free class or more to trial. After a couple classes, our kid loved it, so we signed up. I recommend this to any parent looking to get their child into Karate.

Our almost 6 year old (daughter) and just-turned 4 year old (son) started a few weeks ago, and they (we) really love it!It’s our first martial arts experience, and True Martial Arts has exceeded my expectations from the very first class. As a special ed teacher, I am really impressed with the instructors! They make the class fun, give silly high fives, keep the kids engaged, and are great at redirection. My kids were excited to sign up, but I anticipated some first day jitters and leg clinging, (per usual). That didn’t happen because of the amazing instructors! I love the take-away messages at the end of class and it gives us something to reference during the week. Last class the message was about being helpful; the instructors challenged the kids to do one “helpful thing” for someone before the end of the day. They were so excited to practice their new skills!It’s more than just karate! We are excited to be at True and see the kids grow and develop there!

DO NOT JOIN THIS PLACE!! My 5 year old son joined this place a few months ago and has to quit for personal reasons. After making my 4th payment and going to 1 class for the month, they are demanding i pay for the next 2 months and adding fees. Im not sure if they know this is for a 5 year old child. They force you sign these crazy contracts which should of been a red flag instantly. I would not recommend this place to anyone they are there to steal your money!

Check this place out if you're in the Farmington Hills area and looking for a place to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at a high professional level. Instruction and classes great for the spectrum from complete beginner to experienced. Drop in and learn!

Great and enthusiastic staff who take their jobs seriously, but not too seriously! The experience is a lot of fun for the kids, who are learning so much about self-defense, discipline, team-work, good manners not to mention the development of their physical strength, coordination and self-confidence.

The team at True Martial Arts is just phenomenal. They quickly made me feel like a welcomed part of their team and the level of instruction left me humbled as an amateur martial artist. Their summer camps and after school programs are a great fit for my kids. If you are interested in martial arts for yourself or your family --- look no further than True Martial Arts!

Our son has been absolutely blossoming since he started his martial arts training here over two years ago. Words cannot express our gratitude and appreciation for the entire staff at Vortex. The changes we have seen in the development of our son in terms of concentration, self-discipline/confidence, respect, perseverance, teamwork, leadership, core strength and balance, etc., are evidence that Vortex is the obvious choice for any parents who wish to have their children learn martial arts as well as valuable important life skills.
