The "Lunk Alarm," as they call it, is by far the most hypocritical business strategy in any gym. In order to build an environment that encourages any skill level patron to feel comfortable and not judged, Planet Fitness discourages any experienced patron from enjoying the gym and feeling comfortable. Even though they post stickers everywhere on every machine, saying, "Judgment Free Zone," they have prejudices against those who they deem to be "lunks." In fact, they have an enormous sign in the building called the "Lunk Alarm." So, how exactly is that judgment free? Essentially, they want to avoid people making loud grunts in the gym and carrying 1 gallon jugs of water because, for some reason, that is deemed to be offensive to people. In other words, people who have worked their entire life to max out the weight machines are supposed to not make any sound? I suppose dead lifting is out of the question because that must be too loud! How loud is the lunk alarm when an employee deems someone to be a "lunk?" Loud enough for everyone in the building to hear! Hypocrisy! Maybe I'm the hypocrite for continuing to go there.
