This place is amazing. It's absolutely the #1 premier indoor climbing facility in Northern Colorado. Nothing else comes close.

I've been coming here 2 or 3 times a month during the winter for about 2 yrs now. It's never felt welcoming and there has been inconsistent staff interaction. I was signed off for belaying on my 1st visit, I used a figure 8. I've been climbing about 30 yrs.About a month or two later I was signed off for lead belay.About 6 months later I was told I could not use the figure 8, so I started using an ATC. A few months ago I switched to a Grigri, because I was told the gym would start requiring them for lead belay in Jan. I've had one for yrs, they have been required at every gym in California I ever been to.Today I was told I was standing to far from the wall, I was about 6' away. About 30 minutes later my climber fell. I was about 3' from the wall, I was lifted about 5' off the floor. I lowered myself then him to the ground. We were both fine. About 2 seconds later an employee walked over and told me I was to far from the wall and belaying incorrectly. I asked what she meant she stammered around for about a minute, took my Grigri off and put it on and off her harness 3 times trying to show me how to use it. I put it back on my harness, as it had been and she said that's right. She then asked my name and told me she was suspending my belay certification. WTF?I guess we'll switch to Wetstone.

Really been loving this place. Best climbing gym in Northern Colorado in my honest opinion. Great for my elementary aged kids and my husband and I. Highly recommend.

I have been climbing at ascent for a few years now, and I can say that this gym rocks! I am part of the youth team at Ascent which means that I am fortunate enough to climb at almost all of the best gyms in the Front Range. I can say for certain that Ascent is nothing short from these other gyms. Whether it’s the amazing routes and boulders to the exceptionally tight knit community there is every reason to start climbing at ascent.

Ascent has been my home gym since I've been back in the Fort for the past year or so. It is a first rate facility with all of the amenities (including amazing coffee). I am a 6 AM regular, which is available to members including punch card holders. Ascent is the kind of place where you get to know each other by name, can connect to climb outside, and are generally welcome to join another group if you come in alone. The route setting is creative and varied and is updated frequently. Most of all, I feel very at home with the people. I was surprised at the negative comments here about staff. Sometimes it is easy to mistake different personality styles such as shyness as rudeness. We are all climbers and some of us have our quirks, but by the nature of our sport we put great trust in each other. I've never met an Ascent employee that would not return kindness with kindness (and I've met them all).

Love, love, LOVE this gym!! The facility is super nice and open. The big windows let a lot of light in. The routes are great and fun. The staff are all really great and awesome. We recently moved to Michigan and we're missing y’all so much!

I’ve read some bad reviews from ancient trad dads and inexperienced gumbies alike, but let me tell you that they are wrong. Figure eights are definitely sketchy to be using anymore when we have technology such as the GriGri, and belaying standing so far back from the wall is indeed dangerous. The staff ARE ALL friendly amazing people, many of whom I’ve become friends with over my year and a half as a member. I can’t say enough good things about this gym, the setting is prime, the protection is all in good condition, the facilities are top grade, and the community is great. This is definitely the place to go if you’re looking for amazing people and a taste of the climbing community. Ascent > Whetstone

A fairly nice climbing gym, but some of the absolute worst employees I’ve ever met. I climbed here for about a year, and in that time, got to know the staff. There were a few staff members that I’d be happy to see, but others that would make me reconsider climbing that day. Sam for example, great climber, great guy. And Nick, super nice, would occasionally spot me for some shoes or a harness before I had my own. The guy who I think is the manager was pretty cool to, let me and my buddy into the employee kitchen for water cups. But the vast majority of the staff is terrible to talk to. That doesn’t include the people who set up the routes of course. Especially Will, I didn’t get to know him, nor would I ever want to. He is just about the worst kind of person. We asked if we could apply here, and the guy we asked said “everyone who works here has a lot of experience in their field.”, but I don’t think Will could’ve had experience because he couldn’t have been older than 18 years old, and was terrible at his job. Also, it is rather expensive, so not the most friendly to most climbers.
