Last week I took an intro class. I haven't seen many martial arts schools with a clean, white modern look like this- reminded me of an art gallery. In just the one hour class it was apparent that professor Alex is not just a gifted martial artist, but an equally talented coach.

If you want to get into a martial arts or jiu jitsu I highly recommend Gracie Barra in Garden Grove. I have known and been involved for 7 years since I was 19 and everyone is treated like family. Not only is the instructor knowledgable and cute (to all the ladies) ;) But it is a great atmosphere to learn and grow. If your new and scared this is the most welcoming group of individuals working together to improve everyone's level and goals. I know I was scared but I have never felt so welcomed and was fortunate to grow and evolve with an ever changing group of individuals. This group is a family, and not just a class. I highly recommend trying out a class here! I guarantee you will want more! And if you hate the gym...this will get you in shape!!

Me and my son have been training at Gracie Barra Garden (GBGG) for the last several years, its home away from home. Professor Alex D'Hue is not just a friend, he's a brother. Its not easy finding great coach. Prof. AlexNot only has the strongest credentials, he's also got the practical experience of the highest level competition. He's Otavio Souza's (4X Wold Champion) first black belt, he's a Marine, he's college educated, he's fought MMA, the list goes on.I've trained at other places under somehighly touted coaches, and to be honest, its one thing to be really good at Jiu Jitsu, and another at being good in teaching it. I always struggled with the language barrior of some of the other coaches. Alex's ability to teach complex movements and articulate very high level techinques in a rudimentary way - is amazing!SoCal in the last several years has been regarded by many as the new Mecca of Jiu Jitsu, because the surf/Jiu Jitsu culture being very close, SoCal has attracted the highest level legendary Jiu Jitsu praticioners in the world. With that said, there are a lot of choices of where to train, this is a place you must see before you go anywhere else! Not only is the facilty aestically appealing, with all white matts and industrial modern flair, more importantly, the matts are the highest qualty - built atop a layer of cushion for the highest quality training experience.Bryan

Gracie Barra Garden Grove is buy far one of the best places to learn not only Brazilian jui jitsu but good team building and good morals. Professor Alex is amazing at what he does and sends a great message to all his students. He is patient and kind and truely cares about his students success in BJJ and in just everyday life. The academy has a very warm and welcoming vibe. I would recommend joining! You or your kids... Or both! Professor Alex also puts on a fantastic summer camp for the kiddos. Check it out!

Our family has been with Gracie Barra Garden Grove for 4 years now. This academy is the BEST! The entire staff is there because they actually love the sport. Nothing feels forced and they are passionate about the sport and teaching others. Coach Natalie is extremely skilled and wonderful with children and Professor Alex is truly one of a kind. He has an exceptional ability to relate to his students (young & old) in a way that makes his coaching safe and effective. They offer many programs for all age and skill levels as well as private lessons. If you are looking for an outlet for your children to grow or if you are looking for a unique fitness option for yourself, this is the place. Highly recommended!!
