Field House at The University of Iowa is a historic gym with extensive facilities, including an Olympic-size swimming pool, multiple courts, and a well-equipped fitness loft. While it isn't the most modern, this gym offers a variety of recreational activities and is known for its architecture and natural light. The gym is spacious and generally clean but could use some updates in certain areas.
Field House is open from early morning till late night, making it convenient for diverse schedules. However, it tends to get hot and humid in summer, and air circulation needs improvement. It's recommended for those looking for a quieter workout environment compared to the newer CRWC.

It's extremely hot and humid during the summer. I can't imagine how people managed to play in the court under such conditions.

Really needs better air, especially in the pool area and south gym.

This is a decent gym. Not as modern as some others, but it suits its purpose adequately.

They did not have child changing stations in women's or men's bathroom.... Families come here for events. Why would that not be provided?

The fitness loft is well equipped and the facility is well maintained for its age.

Fabulous gym and more quiet than the CRWC if you're looking for a more low key work out. However, there is one individual behind the desk that likes to yell a bit more than I'd appreciate. Great vibes overall though!

It's so hot in the building during the summer. The walls are very high when trying to hop out of the pool. The pool locker rooms (and most of the building) needs updating. I recommend going to the CWRC instead. It is across the river from this location (the newer recreational center).
