Gabe takes educating his students very seriously. He makes provisions to ensure everyone has the environment to learn and focus. He coaches the things that need improvement and celebrates the victories. 5 stars, no doubt

I wanted to give this review of my first Adult Beginner Class this week, in case anyone is in a similar situation and would like to know what the vibe is from a new person. The first class was amazing. Everyone here puts respect, professionalism, and focus before anything else.I had no Gi (one is in the mail now), and they had plenty of clean Gi's for me to try on to wear for the class. And, as far as the difficulty level of this first class, let me just say this, it was very appropriate. Now, I DO NOT know their normal class structure, weekly focuses, or anything like that. I've just been once, with plans to come back on Friday. But, this first class was a very familiar format, and the entire class had a clear and humble appreciation for professionalism, focus, and in general, I have not felt this level of group focus since my 4A State Marching days as Bass Captain in a drumline. And, while the material was challenging in many ways (and I'm super out of shape), it is exactly as both gentle and forgiving as it is clearly focused and gonna wear you out.If you are on the fence about, as 30 or 40 year old, trying a new martial arts program, I would consider Base Brazilian Jiu Jitsu very seriously. This is a 100% focused place, from what I could tell. And the mutual respect for the instructors and from the instructors to the students was extremely refreshing.Edit: My name is Dillon, btw. Admin Department is my name for my Google Workspace account for my smb.

I was traveling to Lubbock for a week due to work. Since I am a jiu jitsu practitioner whenever I am on a work trip I am always on the lookout for a jiu jitsu gym. I found BASE jiu jitsu in Lubbock and visited it. Everyone was super friendly, welcoming and skillful. Gabe, the head instructor/owner, is an extremely technical and knowledgeable professor. The gym is very clean and up to date. If you are traveling to Lubbock or live in the area I highly recommend that you visit this facility.

BASE BJJDropped in at BASE BJJ today while traveling and met Professor Gabe Hernandez. What an awesome experience and facility. Professor Gabe was very welcoming and it is obvious from training with his students that he is a top notch instructor. The training was excellent, good hard rounds, with very talented, humble, and extremely nice students. I cannot recommend BASE BJJ enough. The facility is top notch, clean, open, with LOTS of mat space. Thanks again and I will definitely be back!

I had the opportunity to train at Base BJJ while visiting Lubbock for the weekend and it truly was such a great and memorable experience. Professor Gabe and Greg were outstanding coaches with a lot of feedback and insight. Their new academy was really clean with a lot of mat space and their environment was all around very positive and welcoming from all their students. I can’t wait to get the chance to go back!
