This is an incredible establishment ran by a respectful, caring individual as Professor Gabe Hernandez. He strives to instill integrity, obedience and other positive values into each and every student. So if you are looking for an amazing family atmosphere and world class quality Brazilian Jiu Jitsu this is the place to go! Hands down the best place to train!! There’s no other academy I’d recommend in the area!

My 5 year old stepdaughter has been training at BASE for about 5 months now. She absolutely LOVES it and will be competing for the first time this upcoming February. Gabe is an amazing instructor and just an all around good person. He’s stern but also knows how to keep the classes fun and enjoyable for the kids. I will always recommend BASE for both kids & adults. it’s an upbeat, family type environment. Clean facility and the perfect way to get into shape not only physically, but mentally as well.

Base Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a gym that I highly recommend to anyone interested in learning a martial art. I choose to go to Base BJJ for the following reasons: (1) the people - everyone is very welcoming, friendly and supportive...there are no jerks or over-inflated egos; (2) the head instructor/owner Gabe Hernandez and the other instructors - all are extremely knowledgeable, remarkably patient, and genuinely interested in making sure that you are learning and making progress; also, there are not many places that I know of where you can go and sometimes find 4 black belts on the mat instructing lower belts; (3) the class schedule - classes are offered Monday through Saturday, so there's always a class available for you to attend; and (4) the affiliation - Base BJJ is an affiliate of Bruno Bastos, a world class competitor and champion with an impeccable reputation on and off the mat.

This place is more than a Jiu Jitsu academy, it is a home. The owner Gabe Hernandez does a great job helping you become a champion on the mats but also in your own life. This place is a home and gives you a sense of belonging. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in town. This is the place to be not only because of the professor but because of the amazing students as well.

Prof. Hernandez is an awesome instructor and has done a great job teaching my 6 year old son. Very approachable and informative.Very clean and well equipped facilities.The training is very adaptable to all skill levels and capabilities. You don’t have to be in-shape to start training. Every person should at least try jiu jitsu and this is the place to do it.

Myself and my kids were in town from Midland and stopped in to get some training at Base Bjj. Very fun welcoming atmosphere. Clean and professional! Professor Gabe is very knowelegable, and runs his classes in a way that everyone can understand and learn.
