While not perfect, this gym is pretty much my second home. The staff is extremely friendly and does a great job at keeping the place clean. There's a wide variety of equipment, including multiples of the most popular weight machines and plenty of treadmills. They even have a few Concept 2 rowers! Unfortunately chalk isn't allowed at this location so that's something to watch out for if you like weightlifting. The knurling on a lot of the barbells is pretty worn as well, but they're all definitely workable. Be aware that there aren't deadlift platforms at this location right now - the west location has some if you're looking for that.It does get pretty busy during weekday evenings, so I'd recommend taking that into account when you're planning your workout.

They have the market cornered in madison for nice gyms with childcare! The gym is always clean, it’s rarely crowded, and the pool is slightly heated. There’s also a hot tub and a sauna if you want to warm up in the middle of winter. The in house daycare is really nice and there’s a lot of cool activities for the kids to do. My son literally asks to go to the gym because he loves the huge built in slide.

Lots of changes with new ownership, thought at first they were great but now I kind of wish we had the old version. New bikes were purchased which sounds great but they locked them to only be used during classes - what’s the point of that when I want to use the bikes purchased with fees to go on a long ride on my own terms? It’s also far too packed now. I’ve even tried leaving work at 3 to get a workout in and there’s no way - pool is always full and thousands of meatheads fill the weight room.On the bright side if you want a gym with new TVs and treadmills that work and are usually available this is your place!

I love this place. Childcare for free with membership, and they have lots of fun options for kids in that room. Cardio equipment is solid (not as many machines as the West location), plus a women's only workout room which I find I like to use. It's pretty chill and a great option. Upstairs are 3 different group fitness rooms, cycle, group fitness, and a meditation room. They have meditative group classes apparently. Sounds awesome haven't been but I'd like to try. Plus my favorite idea: cardio cinema. They have a darkened movie theatre playing a movie on a big screen that you can watch while you jog, cycle, or elliptical. Such a cool idea. They post the schedule.

Very nice locker rooms and equipment. Facility has 2 levels and is nice and clean. There's a 'Women Only' area, a pool, and a refreshment center too. Well staffed @ 8:30pm.

I have belonged to this gym for a few years now and one of the things I enjoyed the most was the availability of the spin bikes for independent use without restriction. It was so nice to be able to bike with a friend or two in a quiet space as we train for races throughout the year. It’s frustrating to know that I pay gym dues that helped to purchase these bikes and my only option is limited to using the old spin bikes that are literally labeled as “bad” quality on the bikes. Management can say what they want about this “policy” to lock the spin rooms, but this policy didn’t exist when it was Gold’s Gym and there never seemed to be any issues with the bikes or the spin room. If they aren’t going to leave the room open at all times like it has always been before then they should consider some sort of a sign in sheet at the desk or “open gym” times that the room is unlocked for for those of us that enjoyed our independent spin exercise. I very much hope that this gets discussed among management because it is disappointing and a deterrent to belonging to this health club.

I started coming to the Princeton Club around February of 2018. This was right at about the time that Princeton acquired the old Gold's Gym location. The Princeton Club is a great facility with friendly staff who always great you with a smile coming to and from your workout. As long as I am in Madison, I will be a Princeton Club member.

I have been attending this gym for roughly 4-5 years, starting from when it was a Gold's Gym. During this time, the gym had started to decline as equipment was always broken, locker rooms torn apart, and general uncleanliness. With the buyout from Princeton Club, I had high hopes this would all change. While some good updates have been made, such as clearing more space on the second floor for equipment, fixing lockers, and staying open 24/7, the gym itself is a poor broken mess. Why does it take 4+ months to fix a leg extension machine? Why are 3/5 stairmaster machines broken? You better bring some chalk if using a barbell since all the bars have been worn down to point their smooth. The gym itself is now crazy busy during the peak hours. If you're trying to lift in the weight room and are looking to either deadlift, benchpress, or squat...you're going to be waiting a while. Don't worry though, if you're a woman you can head over to the wasted space that's "Lady Golds" while the rest of the members awkwardly herd together in the weight room. Or you can always hop on one of the 200 treadmills that you're paying $50+ month for.Moral of the story, if you're an avid weightlifter, find a different gym. If you're a cardio kind of person, save yourself some cash and find a smaller or cardio focused gym such as Planet Fitness.

Princeton Club has allowed far too many people to join, and it has become so packed that I can no longer get my full workouts in. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a gym membership until they get this figured out.I also tried to cancel my membership based on this situation, and Princeton Club was not accommodating or helpful in any way. I was not able to cancel my membership, so unless you are 100% confident that you want to stay with them no matter how things might change, you should look for another gym.

I've only ever gone once, but it's lovely! The way the layout is set up is interesting, but the most important thing to me is how much space is in the bathroom (because I usually workout and then have to change clothes for somewhere else I need to be) and it's perfect! Counter space and everything is great. And they're selection of workout equipment is pretty broad, as well. 5 stars from me for sure :)
