This is the best BJJ gym in the area. The facility is top class, the instructors are great, and the community is welcoming. Wish I would’ve started here sooner!

I've been doing jiu-jitsu for about 9 months now and it has been great for my physical and mental health. I'm in the best shape in my life since high school. I've enjoyed the combination of physical intensity, the "technicalness", and real-time problem solving that each sparring session provides. The gym itself is clean and there are a variety of great coaches to learn from. BJJ is hard, but the quality of instruction and training partners has helped me gradually improve over these 9 months. I still have a lot to learn, but I believe I'm in good hands here :)

I was here for a competition class last month and I was impressed by the quality of training partners and instruction given by coach Rodrigo Dini and Jessica Swanson. The classes started out with 3 techniques that all link together (X Guard entry, tripod sweep, and another sweep). The following class then progressed to position sparring using those techniques and then it was followed by standup takedown round-robins (competetion class) and side control escapes. All the people I was partnered up with were safe and the coaches were helpful in pointing out mistakes. I am a huge fan and I would recommend this gym to anyone starting out in BJJ or is experienced. There are a good mix of competitors and beginners of all weight classes which is what you want so that you have enough varied training partners.

This is your sign to make BJJ Lab your new jiu jitsu home!! I signed up at this gym knowing it would be short term, and I had no idea that in the short time that I trained here I would gain a family! BJJ Lab trains hard while fostering a respectful safe place for everyone to learn and train! The best part about this gym are the people— truly some of the most kind, accepting, and approachable people you’ll ever meet. I promise you won’t regret any time you spend learning jiu jitsu and making friends here!

I've just visited the gym morning at 6:30am class with professor Rodrigo.I leave and train in Raleigh-NC but I was in Chicago for some business meetings and wanted to get in touch with the local jiu-jitsu teams.Whole team was really receptive and instructions were passed thoroughly and had a very good time rolling with all guys.I felt very welcomed at all time, felt pretty much like home there.I'll definitely return when visiting Chicago again.Unfortunately I've called after hours and they could answer at that time, but they promptly called me back and explained everything that I needed to know.Thank you for receiving me there!!!See you guys next time!Oss!!!

I couldn't be happier with BJJlab. My 5 year old son has been training here for two months and just loves it! He has so much energy and this has been the perfect outlet. The instructors are very patient and keep his attention, not an easy thing to do. He just sees it as fun, but I like the discipline and confidence he is developing. So, I tried out a class myself a couple weeks ago. As a 43 year old tradesman with beat up joints, my initial hesitation was getting hurt. After going a few times, I have come to realize that these are a great group of guys and girls, very welcoming and letting me go my pace. The skill level of the instructors is impressive and I look forward to learning!

This academy very easily became an immersive family environment in correlation with my place of training. With multiple instructors, BJJ Lab offers a unique variation in skills/technique that I have found beneficial as a new student. They offer adult, women’s only and kid’s classes. The academy is well-kept and definitely worth checking out if interested in jiu-jitsu.

This review is long overdue. I can’t speak highly enough of BJJ Lab and its staff. Our son has been in the youth program since March 2022. Coach Brad and Coach Enrin are great and truly make us feel welcome everyday we walk in through the door. My wife and I have had the most interaction with Brad and Enrin because they are usually the ones at the reception area.BJJ Lab’s youth program doesn’t allow for the parents to be in the gym during the class. Brad explained to me the reason to keep the parents out of the gym during the class is for the benefit of the kids and the program. There is a designated parent waiting area for the parents to see the class. Nevertheless, my son has always spoken highly of all his coaches.Initially, my wife and I were contemplating whether we enrolled our son at a Tae Kwon Do or Jiu Jitsu academy. A huge factor why we were contemplating the two was because there is a Tae Kwon Do facility less 5 minutes from our house and BJJ Lab is about 25 minutes from us. Brad took the time to have a lengthy conversation with me and answered all my questions and explained what BJJ Lab is truly about. Brad suggested for our son to try a class for free prior to enrolling him and see if he would truly like it.My son was looking forward so much for his first BJJ Lab class but unfortunate for him, I believe the car ride there made him nauseous. Once we arrived for our son’s free trial class, as I was speaking to Brad for about a minute or so, my son vomited inside the facility. I took my son outside as fast as I could where he continued to vomit. Of course my son was in no condition to participate in the class and prior to leaving I apologized and offered to help clean the mess. Brad was very understanding of the situation, continued to make us feel welcome, and refused to accept any help. Brad never made us feel unwelcome, on the contrary, he suggested for us to bring our son back another day for his free trial class.A week later we were back with our son for his free trial class. Needless to say, our son like it, and we haven’t looked back since or second guessed our decision. There’s been a couple times that I have had some questions and Brad has taken the time to answer them. My wife and I wish our schedules were a little more open and wish to possibly enroll ourselves in the future in the adult program. Additionally, we have to younger boys and look forward to enrolling them also in the future if they were to like the program. If you decide to go with BJJ Lab, you won’t be disappointed.

From the moment I stepped foot in BJJ Lab every staff member, instructor, and training partner have been incredibly friendly and supportive. The environment is fantastic - everyone is eager to learn and it’s contagious. Love coming here.

My kids joined this gym 5 years ago and it was the best decision we could have made for them. The coaches are so involved and so dedicated into helping all kiddos! The hardwork and continuous training doesn't go unnoticed. Also, the flexible schedule is ideal!
