The ymca gym at northeast had no power so I came here hoping to use my gym membership. I tell the associate I am apart of the ymca and since companies want to say that their family then treat me like a family member then let me use your gym. Don’t tell me that I can’t use the gym because it’s not a part of the nationwide branch well, then stop being a little baby turn a blind eye and just let me in because it’s a Sunday and no one‘s using the gym and there are only a couple cars outside of the parking lot have. Have some common sense since the fact that one of the branches are not able to be used right now because of a power outage let them use your facility and call it a day.

Recently I joined YMCA.I had a very good experience with the entire staff of the front desk, particularly with Membership Services and Community outreach director Dafne Ginn. All facilities are great, the weather in the swimming pool is warm, the exercise room has everything you need. They also have the pickleball time every day.

Don’t bring your kids here. The New Rochelle YMCA is the most decrepit, dangerous, broken down, inept establishment I have ever had the displeasure of being brought to. I was brought here to go swimming with a friend. The staff is incredibly rude at the front (I wish I caught her name - SO nasty), and the locker rooms, I'm pretty sure, need to be the focus of a health department investigation. BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE. On the walls, the floors, the shower curtains. The bathing suit dryer was broken, the bathroom was beyond dirty and many tiles were missing from the floor. I can't imagine what the woman's locker room looks like. Speaking with other people in the locker room, I discovered they’ve sent people to the hospital for chemical inhalation. Not surprising...PS, I find it very suspicious that the most recent 5 star reviews of this place are from people with only one review.

My 15 year old daughter didn't have the courage to swim, and was afraid of deep water. But when I registered her with Marcello, I was able to see dramatic improvement in her confidence and her skills. My daughter's weak point in swimming was her kick. However, Marcello has helped her tremendously and she is no longer afraid of the deep end. I most definitely recommend Marcello to swimmers of any level!

Showers/bathrooms are DIRTY. Lifeguards are rude and nasty. Take a closer look they have their AirPods in and watching their phone behind the life preserver. Pool schedule is a joke, giving 15 minute breaks every hour for lifeguards to smoke a cigarette and lock swimmers out of the pool.Added pictures of how filthy the place is. Such a shame this place has a lot of potential but it’s just honestly gross all throughout the building. *****if you notice they no longer have public pictures available to see after the mold images I posted. Just go to Yelp reviews so you can see how they maintain their bathrooms.***UPDATE after writing this review the CEO called me the next day and left me a voicemail they are cancelling my membership because my 1 star review. What type of government funded facility cancels members that are asking for a clean environment. They should be calling to apologize with the way the bathrooms have been kept and will be cleaned right away and they care about the health and cleanliness of their facility! They take no ownership to change the cleanliness of their facility or how to communicate kindly with their members. They rather cancel their members, instead of hearing them and actually CLEAN. This has been going on the past three years.Maybe they are purposely not cleaning so they can get shutdown and get more funding to renovate?

My 8 year old son started swimming at the New Rochelle YMCA in April 2023. However, he was assigned Marcelo as a new swimming instructor last Friday as his previous swimming instructor relocated. The one hour class he had with Marcelo was nothing short of outstanding. The different techniques Marcelo utilized to get my son comfortable with him and the lesson was amazing. I love how passionate he is about swimming and ensuring my son learn the techniques/ fundamentals that is necessary to swim. During my son first swim lesson, I observed Marcelo being firm but also patience and playful. I love what I saw and this is why my son will be returning. If you're in search for a swimming instructor, you have come to the right place, just called the YMCA of New Rochelle and ask for MARCELO.

On the advice of a friend I enrolled my scared 7 year old to learn to swim with Marcello at the New Rochelle YMCA. Despite several summers of camp swim lessons, my child named drowning as his number one fear and would do anything to avoid putting his face in the water. But after the very first lesson with Marcello, my son was making more progress than he ever had. Six one-hour private lessons later (and a promise of a nice reward if he stuck with it), my son was jumping in the deep end and swimming 8 pool lengths himself and is truly excited to go back. The Great Marcello is a swim magician and is worth his weight in gold! If you have a kid who is not making progress and scared to swim despite repeated attempts, skip the Goldfish group classes and come to Marcello. Be prepared that it’s still a process - Marcello uses no-nonsense and firm coaching with flashes of humor and heart of gold tactics I wasn’t sure would work on a kid who usually demands a soft touch and a lot of hand holding. Even though my son was excited at the end of each lesson his fear would creep back in between them, so Marcello’s recommendation to go 2-3 times a week is spot on -it’s made a big difference and is well worth the investment. Also a note on the facility itself. It’s not brand new or super posh. It reminds me of the Ys that I grew up with and that’s just fine with me. It’s very clean, there is everything you need or would want to do, the staff are so nice and remember your name, and the community is just wonderful. It’s a phenomenal deal for everything you get and you can use any of the other Westchester YMCAs for no additional fee (and some others but not the NYC ones). They have wonderful child care options and a summer camp. They are really providing an incredible community service!

My daughter takes private lessons with Marcello, she loves it. I am very happy with these lessons because I can see how much she has improved her swimming skills, soon she will be ready to be in the swimming team and is all thanks to Marcello, one of the best instructors in the club.
