Central Rock Gym in Waltham offers a unique bouldering experience right next to the Mighty Squirrel Brewery. This gym stands out for its welcoming staff, varied routes, and grippy walls which are perfect for climbers of different levels. The atmosphere is friendly, and the community is supportive, often with fun events and contests.
While the facility has its perks, it isn’t without flaws. The gym can get crowded during peak hours, and it is primarily suitable for more advanced climbers. Some reviewers find it overpriced compared to other options, and there's no cardio equipment or space for basic exercises.

Most expensive gym I've ever gone too and definitely the worst quality. You're better off going to Metro Rock in Littleton it's amazing, large top roping and bouldering sections, clean, well lit, and cheaper. Central rock's pictures need to be updated because the holds are now all old and walls are worn and gross. The lighting is also so dark. There is also barely any room in this place and it's only bouldering. They also do not have a good range of route levels. This place is not for kids and not really even for beginners or intermediate level. I don't know how this place justifies their pricing compared to other gyms.

Pretty good climbing. Calm environment. No cardio equipment, minimal space to stretch and do basic non-climbing exercises. Disgusting brewery smells creep through the walls sometimes and stick on your clothes after you leave. Walls are modern way-too-tall highball style with low probability moves seemingly always at the very top. Recipe for exploding knees. It is actually possible to set routes way less tall that are still fun and challenging. I know - Crazy!

Gym connected to brewery. They come up with novel ideas to engage with the brewery like flash it Wednesdays but it also closes down often for events so make sure to keep up on their social if you’re planning to go. They have some fun feature but I wouldn’t consider it for a home gym.
