I’ve been going to this gym since before they opened in Newton, it was ok at first at the new location but now they have absolutely no regard for the temperature. Some days it’s cold (rarely) the rest of the days are so hot. When it’s hot weather outside they don’t raise the ac. If you’re looking to do a lot of cardio do not come here you will be suffering. Some days it’s unbearable when trying to run on the treadmill it feels like it’s 80 degrees, hot, and humid. The windows will fog up as well from how hot it is inside. They keep the temp at 70 degrees which is way too hot for a gym in my opinion. It makes the workout unenjoyable because it feels as if you are just running outside on a hot day as well as making it very hard to breathe and uncomfortable.

If you join, you had better be comfortable with joining for life. Seriously. It is nearly impossible to cancel your membership. You can't do it in the office. You are directed instead to send an email or certified letter to the corporate office. But, if my example is representative, that won't accomplish anything. I wrote in February to cancel the membership -- 4 months ago - and received an email confirmation that it was received. But ABC continued to charge my account. Finally tried calling the 800#. If you press '0' enough times you will get to a human being.47 minutes later (!!!) I was finally able to get it cancelled. The first operator proposed a "compromise": how about if instead of cancelling they downgrade the membership. I insisted I wanted to cancel and was told that they were "not authorized" to cancel memberships over the phone and that I needed to send an email.Only when I insisted on talking to a supervisor, and having that supervisor lookup and verify the emails were sent was I able to have it cancelled. So, maybe it's a great gym, but nothing should be this difficult.

Been working with David Salter for a few months now and he is great! Super accommodating and makes working out easy by keeping a record of all our workouts for the day and sending them to me after each session so I can continue training. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a good personal trainer!

Steer clear of this gym unless you want to be verbally abused, mistreated and talked down to by over wrinkled elderly women who stand behind abusive employees , and punk teens who are rude and arrogant. I went to work out World when it was in Waltham and actually quit going there because I was treated horribly on a repeated basis by management and some of the front desk workers. I was skeptical when I found workout World moved to Newton and thought because of its new location that it would be better management. Sadly I was wrong because I was repeatedly mistreated by some young punk kid at the front desk in the mornings who has no problem over charging your card but won't let you in the gym because he isn't capable of upping your membership a measly $10 so you can actually go to the gym and work out in the morning which is what you signed up for. 2 days of Sebastian AKA punk arrogant kid at the front desk being ridiculously rude to me and not being able to help me and I met with a 70-year-old lady who just wants to talk circles around their membership and policies and not actually address the issue at hand which was Sebastian's rudeness and their bad customer service. All they cared about was charging my card a year-long membership fee for abuse, mistreatment and being talked down to by some overly fake tan elderly woman. Never should have gave this one another chance, some things never change, and then when you ask him for a manager they tell you to email them. Run to the hills you're better off going to a gym at a prison and being treated better than this workout World.

I worked with David Salter for my prenatal fitness training. I'm really surprised to see how staying active could benefit my delivery and recovery process so much. I also had a very good glucose test result this time. David Salter understood my limits and was really encouraging. Now I'm ready to lose the baby weight under his guidance.

Gym itself is fine; however, it is impossible to cancel memberships so beware (especially the year-long contracts). Steps I had to take:1. Call home WOW location and ask to cancel. They will give you an email to contact and agreement number which is different than the one shown through the app2. Email the address provided by staff which will be met by an automatic response stating that they "received" your request, but it will not process for another week... During this time your membership status is still ongoing so if it passes a payment date, tough luck but you'll be squeezed for every last penny3. Account will be set to "Pending Cancel Status" and they will say you are responsible for a 30-day written request to cancel. I was told that the email counts as the 30-day written notice, but I have heard from other people that they had to bring an actual letter to their home location.Since the initial attempt to cancel my membership on 3/7/23, I will still be charged for April plus a $60 "enhancement fee."If you do plan on cancelling, try asking 2 or 3 months in advance since it takes that long apparently.

I moved away from this gym and needed to cancel my membership. I couldn't do it in person and the front desk employee required me to send an email to request a cancellation. I send in the email and I don't hear back for nearly a week (the employee said I'd hear back in 2 business days) during which I'm billed for the next month. When I finally received a response, the email said that they would additionally charge me for the FOLLOWING month. Absolutely absurd, I shouldn't have to dispute charges with my credit card company in order to cancel my membership on the day that I want to. I've canceled gym memberships before and it's never been this obtuse and predatory.

Melissa is an amazing personal trainer. She is personable, reliable, well educated and informed. She is endlessly encouraging and terrific at mixing things up so the workouts are always interesting and challenging. She is also really mindful when working with injuries. I highly recommend working with Melissa!!

I signed up for personal training and was not disappointed! I met with Jacob initially who was incredibly kind and understanding of my goals and made me feel excited about going back to the gym. He was super knowledgeable and really listened to everything I said, and he was super fun to talk to! He spends a lot of time trying to understand you and how to best help you and push you to be better. Definitely try their training program!

Lots of good things to say about this wow location & trainers!!First off, I signed on for personal trainer (Jacob & David) and wasn't disappointed. David is my full-time personal trainer but Jacob did the first session with me.I think both these guys understand the intricacies of balance between exercise, nutrition and physical + mental well being. They are very knowledgeable, motivating, flexible in terms of scheduling, genuinely care for my goals and getting me the most value out of the personal training experience.I am currently at a very basic fitness level and David (and Jacob) have been very encouraging and understanding of my limitations, but at the same time pushing me just enough to do better with each session. I also feel like their approach to strength, interval and full body circuits is spot on!The attendants and staff at this location are very nice too and helpful too! They were very accommodating and helped me out with billing related changes (actually looked out for my interests when I changed membership plans, which never happens at other gyms). All in all, super happy so far!
