24 Hour Fitness in Oakland offers a spacious gym with modern equipment, a pool, sauna, and steam room. Despite its extensive facilities, the gym faces significant challenges in cleanliness and maintenance. Many members appreciate the staff's friendliness, the variety of equipment, and the overall atmosphere, but frequent issues with broken machines and theft concerns frequently overshadow these positives.

Security and customer service need improvement, as numerous reports indicate unresolved theft incidents and poor staff responses. Maintenance issues, especially in the showers and locker rooms, detract from the gym's overall appeal. Despite these issues, some members find the gym convenient and value for money.

Nice and big gym.Has everything you need to achieve your goal. The only thing bad is the parking lot.Just be aware of your surroundings in the parking lot. There is a security guard, but his most of the time by the entrance door and NOT in the parking lot where we need him.

I am a regular member at 24hr high St. Oakland.I find the club an excellent site for my exercise. However, I have a daily complaint:Many people use the sauna and steam room with street shoes on, I am extremely dissatisfied that the club staff doesn't monitor this on a regular basis. Please do more monitoring before someone brings something dangerous in on their shoes and gets us all seriously ill.

Adding this after we all heard of 24/7 having to settle for millions for defrauding so many of their duped members-it was ALL OVER THE NEWS. Only allowing people w/ Google accts to "review" this trash outfit is discriminatory. It also won't allow me to give this facility or 24 H overall ZERO stars. But this location, once a clean Magic Johnson Gym has been trashed and is a pig stye. The staff are the worst. 0 stars to infinity. I wouldn't recommend this to even enemies or Trump. Not only are the bathrooms filthy 24/7, most weekdays there's no TP or toilet seat protective paper covers, no soap in either the sink/washroom or showers. They recently(reportedly to save money we're told) cut back all evening security guards patrolling this most dangerous area where many have had their cars broken into or stolen). One of the nicest members ever who's put up with this facilities unprofessionalism for years had to call OPD and authorities when his white truck was stolen in broad daylight, parked right in front of the entrance last Sunday ~6 am. My car and several others got keyed today. Bottom line, corporate and this location are going to be sued by various. Not that the security guards were always properly out there. Often at 5 am they were sound asleep in a chair inside by the front desk and hardly outside where they should've been working. What # GM are we on in the last year with the constant departure of staff, the most notable being Cornelius who said he got screwed on the way out(he'd been our best employee, looking out for members). One of the front desk males bypasses the non-disabled bathrooms to use the clearly-marked disabled one, even when they're all empathy. Those of us who are disabled have watched him do this, cutting in front of us and taking the one disabled bathroom which I believe violates many ADA laws. Since Magic Johnson pulled his backing, this not-that-old facility has gone down the toilet. W/o security, the front desk people have zero protection, especially in the morning as we've had various non-members sneak into the club and even a gang tried to get into the women's locker room and shower area before one 68 yr old brave member stopped them-all on tape. Some members have been repeatedly told to STOP talking on their cells while working out on the cross trainers but continue to do so. The hot tub is often broken for months at a time, which many of us as disabled members count on. Was personally told "this club and corporate don't want to spend any money on the proper parts, so the little jet action it has will have to do." If a gym could get negative stars, it would be this dump(BTW, often no paper towels or hand sanitizer in the containers in the two large work out rooms) and the Tuesday morning cycling "instructor" appears to be incompetent, screaming loudly and has caused yet additional members to quit. Think there's just one Personal Trainer remaining and he reportedly only went thru their own "in house" training which probably is not up to standard of care. Just because a club is located in a dangerous part of Oakland, doesn't mean they have to cut costs everywhere, shirk responsibility and let the place fall apart ike this one. The 3rd or 4th GM who left(was stupidly promoted we heard-who'd promote this bozo?) around last winter("Matt" we believe his name was) always ran away from any of us who came to try to talk to him about this facilities TONS OF PROBLEMS, shower areas with feces on the floor, etc but "Matt" would always run away. How typical of 24 Hour.

I am handicapped and after a workout at the gym A friend pick me up and took me to downtown San Francisco to pick up some medication. When I returned my car had been towed. Even with a handicap Placard! It was there for less than seven hours and the parking lot was completely empty. The front desk guy laughed at me and the manager did absolutely nothing. He won’t even talk to me. It was $570 and costed me a lot of pain and suffering waiting to get my vehicle. I’ve been a loyal member for years and have never been treated with so horribly! I even had left a note on my car with the phone number to call me if there were any problems and they gave me no notice. This is the worst gym I’ve been to. I’m filing a lawsuit i’m contacting corporate and the handicap rights organizations.

Too many ab machines, not enough squat racks or benches. It is always full of people. The weights are always in chaos because no one re-racks and it isn't enforced. (So good luck finding anything smaller than a 10lb plate) They don't have towels. The bathrooms are filthy and always wet. There is a pool area, but if the rest of the place is indicative of its cleanliness, I wouldn't set foot in that Petri dish. The staff is generally pretty nice and there are a lot of cardio machines and a basketball gym. The people who use it seem pretty territorial though.

I’ve been to a lot of 24 hour fitness’ before and this is the worst one I’ve been to. So bad that I canceled my membership after the experience with this gym. I happened to meet the manager Patrick. I told him that somebody had literally smeared feces in the locker room on the bench and lockers and even on the sink and mirrors. He laughed in my face and then said that he would send a cleaning person over there. I could not stomach going to the locker room to change so I left and came back four hours later after work. The mess was still there it had not been touched! The front desk person told me that Patrick Was busy even Patrick was clearly there doing something. They told me that I should just change at home. I told then I wanted to cancel my membership!

The gym is huge! I feel like I get value for my buck. I love the energy in this place. I've never had a problem finding weights or machines for my workouts. The place is tidy but some areas could use a deep cleaning, such as, the showers and restroom areas. I've found the best time to go is around 8:30 p.m. I really enjoy the the full court basketball court to just shoot around. I use the pool around 2 a week, and I usually finish off each workout in the steam room.
