I was a member here for nearly 10 years, prior to Genesis taking over. I was paying roughly 50 a month but had to take a break from my membership last year due to a job situation. Upon attempting to rejoin the lowest rate I was offered was 109/month for a single member. In the time I left there were so many things that had started falling apart...barbells bent, decline machines missing padding, only one curl bar for the entire gym, cable machines with cables breaking and bars haven broken, non operational treadmill machines, leg lift machines racks with deflated balls, Broken mirror with duct tape holding it together, etc. The regulars I spoke with all noting a decline in the maintenance and repair since Genesis took over, not opening on time on several occasions, while asking more than twice what I was previously paying? It's a significant disappointment and evidently prior member loyalty means nothing to them.Response from owner on other reviews says they are taking the concerns seriously. They clearly are not.

Never enough machines, racks, or space!!! Always busy, even on holidays, weekends, or mornings. If you're a serious lifter you'll never get the machine you need in a reasonable amount of time so your workout is seriously impeded. Free weights are always taken up. Cables are always taken up. This Genesis is so crowded that it's not worth your time if you're a powerlifter who needs common machines. Go elsewhere because it's been like this for YEARS and has not changed. It's so frustrating!

I only use this gym for the basketball courts, and for the past 8 months one of the rims has been broken, it’s broken in the upright position, I’ve personally talked to management countless times about it and all they say they’ll fix it it’s been 8 months to fix a hoop, not sure how that’s acceptable for a high end health club.

Similar complaints as the other reviews. Not transparent in their pricing. Guy next to me is paying $70, I’m paying $100 on a “New Years special.” Then to change your card on file or to cancel takes an act of Congress and they usually can’t get it right without multiple follow ups (Corporate says the guy Steve at Ridgeview didn’t send them my change, etc etc - what a mess)For the most part, there’s not anyone at the front desk when you walk in. If it’s staffed, they’re so engrossed with their phones they can’t be bothered when you have questionsLastly, got a sinus infection from swimming at the pool a few days in a row…then I was just done with this gym. They have a long way to go to win back the business of frustrated customers.

For my first visit to this location it was a really positive experience. Staff were friendly, facilities were in very good condition, overall good atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

I used this gym to lose 100 pounds in a year. (April 2022 - April 2023)Ive had plenty of experiences i could share about in this review. The gym offers a large variety or equipment and amenities to cover plenty of different training styles! That is when its not shut down for maintenance or broken.Almost all the barbells are bent, cables machines regularly break. The tensioners for the cable machines are usually hand tight and out of adjustment. I am told all Genesis locations are like this.Towels are hardly available most mornings.I brought a friend with me and gave them a free day pass that was given to me by a genesis employee upon signing up. We have done this a few times. We were troubled at the counter and not allowed to proceed without inquiring about signing up. At that time my friend was told a 12-month commitment would cost $170 a month. I only paid $70 and still felt like I was overpaying. After this I began shopping around and found another gym.Today, I went to cancel my membership. The associate that helped stared me in the eyes and told me I would have to pay a penalty for breaking my 12 month contract which ended in april. I corrected him and found he wouldnt look me in the eyes after that. This is clearly some sort of tactic they use to attempt to keep people on board or wring them out one last time. I declined paying it and we moved on.Most of my complaints with this gym are due to the people who attend it thinking they own the place. However the outrageous prices (for subpar service) and clearly lying is what earned this location a 1 star review. This is my second review that I will be leaving this gym. The last one was removed after it had been “addressed” no long term changes were made.Take advantage of the 7 day free pass before signing up. You will quickly learn why the membership numbers at this gym are dropping like a bad habit.

For the past 5+ years I have worked out at Genesis on Ridgeview and it is the best gym I have been to! I live in SoCal and have been a member at 4 gyms in 20 years, but Genesis is by far the best of all of them! Steve Fitzwater and the entire staff are over the top friendly and professional.Great equipment, always clean, and always remodeling to improve and replacing old equipment. Will join when I move back to KC soon!

This is hands down my favorite gym around. I’ve gone to plenty of different gyms around the area, and this one was my favorite. Also, Kameron was a great help when I was wanting more information on memberships!!

Love this Genesis! The staff is super friendly and they’re making great renovations! They have tons of machines and lots of options to workout however you prefer. Definitely will return!
