Downtown Orlando YMCA Family Center

Wanted a gym where I could go in, do my workout, and leave. Unfortunately that isn't the case with this Y. I have seen violent confrontations between visitors, homeless living on the premises, and police patrol the area. I don't feel safe here. Let alone, their hours have been tough to work with since covid. Bringing my business elsewhere.

Here is 1 example why the Y (see what I did there ;-)): It’s the only YMCA in Central Florida with an actual functioning sauna. All the other YMCAs, if they have a sauna, doesn’t work at all. Or if it does, a person cannot distinguish a change in temperature because of how poorly the heating mechanism works. Because of this reality, the Downtown Y deserves at least 5 stars if not more. I wish the other YMCAs would follow suit.

I’ve been a member of the YMCA for many many many years in different states I was also volunteer as well as employed there. My experience has always been Outstanding I can’t say enough about how wonderful family oriented the YMCA is an always will be

Great atmosphere, lots of amenities, plenty of equipment to get a great workout, and members are respectful of the facilities (reracking weights, etc.). Bike racks outside for those that need them.

Love aqua-fit at the indoor pool, but since the water temperature was changed to 80 degrees to accommodate lap swimmers, I have to find a warmer pool for aqua-fit classes. I always see more people in indoor aqua-fit classes (8 -14) than indoor lap swimmers (2-6) during the hour I'm there. They must pay MORE. Too uncomfortable‼

This is a great Y. Great friendly staff and facilities. I will give 5 stars, however for the past year there has been a random mold smell in the second floor. I have brought this to the attention of the staff and management and nothing has been done to resolve the issue. As matter a fact the issue is getting worst and many members are complaining about it. This has forced to go work out at other Central Florida Y's. I hope something is done soon to address this uncomfortable issue.

I’ve only been a member for a month so far and I love this gym! All the amenities you could need for a range of workout styles, amazing customer service (I love that they know everyone’s name by heart) and super clean facility.

This location is...interesting to say the least. The equipment selection is pretty good but the layout of the entire gym is awful. There is a large room in the front with a very weird selection of cable machines and treadmills, another room of benches and free weights, and then more machines, benches, squat cages, and treadmills on the upper floor. This sounds great at first, but you'd have no idea that there was more equipment upstairs because the signs just say things like "loft". The air conditioning was also set really high or entirely off the last time I went, making the experience generally uncomfortable. This location didn't *feel* like any other Y that I've been to, and I will likely not be back.

Excellent experience at swimming classes! Instructors were very patient with my 5 and 6 yrs. old girls. Classes lasted 30mins but you have to sign up first at front desk. It is always a pleasure to come to their facilities.
