My membership is almost $100 a month. Got an email saying they need to increase fees due to the pandemic and supply chain issues. Guess members are using too much toilet paper

i've been a member of this gym for quite a while. unfortunately, despite it being so close to my apartment, i've decided to look for another gym home.the pros:- variety of classes. a treadmill run class would be great, though.- variety of machines. the gym has pretty much everything except a ski erg and a decent hip thrust machine (which you have to use because the racks are always taken). there aren't always *enough* machines or space to work out given overcrowding, but they do generally have what you need.- locations. there are a few locations in the downtown area, which can be good if you're a bit of a nomad.- towels! i sweat a lot and i'm so glad there are always towels available to use during a workout.- the cleaning staff work VERY hard to keep the gym clean and they're the real MVPs.the cons:- the price/billing. as others have noted, the gym isn't transparent about billing (bi-weekly to squeeze another payment from you, annual fees which are *not* customary at any gym i've been to (NYSC, Equinox) and make it hard to correct billing errors. and, given the cons below, the gym is not longer priced appropriately for what it delivers. they've also partnered with (read: paid) "influencers" to post about the gym and drive even more members to already over-crowded facilities. i guess that's why dues are going up. i've heard the cleaning crew doesn't make much more than minimum wage, which i *really* hope isn't true given the money they waste on marketing/social media and how expensive the gym is.- the gym is far too crowded during peak hours. i luckily wfh but can't always get to the gym until the evening, which means i'm often waiting in line for squat racks or having to restructure my workout because the machine i need isn't available.- cameras in the steam room/sauna. the company line is that they'll only be reviewed in case of an issue...i'm not convinced.- bathroom items are frequently out of stock/you have to go to the front desk for them. just what i want to do...run to the front desk to ask for a tampon :/.- quality of classes (i've been taking wefit classes since it cost extra and have noticed a serious decline in the quality of instructors of late).- the rules. i don't mind most of the rules, but am frustrated that you can't lift in socks. i've been yelled at for this before (but not always) and it makes no sense to me. everyone knows lifting barefoot provides the best grip (but lifting barefoot is gross...) so i'm not sure why lifting in socks is prohibited, nor is this posted anywhere, but here we are.- reduction in hours. now that the gym is so overcrowded, i've taken to going late night sometimes. apparently the gym now closes at 9 on friday nights, which seems crazy.so, after being a member for years, i think it's time to find another facility. i'm super bummed because EM is *so* close to home but the overcrowding and price make it no longer worth it.

They have no billing phone number. You cannot pay on the app. You cannot pay on the website. The way the billing is run at this gym is scary and unprofessional. It's a nice gym, but you are financially highjacked and have no flexibility on paying ahead. I dont like having this level of disconnection with my financial obligations.Had an overall negative experience with this location.

After touring the location I was happy with the amenities and ready to sign up.I took some time to review some things and during that time I would get texted multiple times per week asking me if I would like to move forward. To these texts, I replied yes multiple times without success. They were bugging me for nothing. One morning I was told that the sales people came in at 7 and I went to the Market East location (East Market isn't fooling anyone.) and went to sign up.I was met with no sales people, and a woman at the front desk who wanted to charge me $25 to work out until the sales people arrived around 9. This infuriated me. She gave me a card for a manager and the phone just rang in front of her.So, after all the effort put in by the 12th and Market location, I signed up at Northern Liberties because they at least let me work out until a sales person came in, at which point I signed for a year.12th and Market, your sales team and customer service has some major issues, and your management may need to be juggled a bit because your sales team is inefficient, ineffective, and I know you guys need new money with all those new properties.Your district management should take notice to how hard they made it for me to sign up, and you guys are not cheap anymore. Very sad, guys.

Great equpment but the steam room has been out 'until further notice' for 2 months now. The sauna is therefore uncomfortably packed and I specifically chose this gym for this reason. Kinda tiffed about it since I have no idea how long this will last.

I’ve been a member of City Fitness for over 5 years; I even continued paying my membership through COVID shutdowns to support a local business. This location was once the crown jewel gym in the city, but has become more hassle than it’s worth.First, memberships are oversold. This gym is not functional during peak hours. It’s simply not worth it to attempt a workout.Second, they’ve now placed CAMERAS in the sauna and steam room. This is an incredible violation of privacy.I’ll use one of their other locations while I determine if City Fitness is still worth $80/month.

If you're checking out these reviews looking for a new gym. Don't go here - sure, it's nice enough during the tour. But the money grab and getting the most amount of people in the gym at all costs is so bad. It's clear that the member experience is not a priority, just numbers signing up. It's now nearly impossible to work out at peak hours. The environment is incredibly busy, waiting not just for machines but even for floor space. I go very late to avoid this, and it's still very unenjoyable.

This place is the best gym ever! Super spacious and has all new equipment. Sauna and Steam room are everything.Idk why you would go to any other gym in the city!

So I've been coming here for a while now and it's become way too packed for the price you pay. I've gone to similar price point places and they just have way more investment in their equipment. You can never find the machine you need like everyday. And to add insult to injury they recently limited their hours on Fridays and Sundays. I totally understand Saturdays but it's insane to close at 9 on Fridays and Sundays. What tipped me over the edge is that they will now have cameras in the Sauna ans Steam rooms. I immediately thought this is illegal but I'm not a lawyer. All I know is that this makes me very uncomfortable to be in my underwear on someone screen. I was already uncomfortable being in front of other people and I'm thankful when no one is there, but now I will always feel like I'm being watched. I may have to check out other gyms soon.Edit: Since they responded. Your hours are not based on reason. You are literally kicking a gym full of people out everytime you close at 9 pm. It is so packed you cannot find a machine. Once again, 11 pm is a reasonable time for weekends. 9 pm is just lazy.

On Nov 18th my credit card was stolen directly from a locker at City Fitness. Several transactions have been made. One unauthorized transaction  with my stolen credit card was made at the shake bar inside of our gym. Few attempts have been made to request video footage (no success). No actions from the management have been taken. When the footage been requested the manager told me that he will show the footage only to the cops. Police have been called. Detective reached  out to me since she was unable to get in contact with the manager. I spoke with Coe (our new manager). and he said that he was busy (Hello? Is this because this happened not with you, or you just don't care?).Few days ago I asked him and he said that he sent the video to the detective. I reached out to the detective yesterday, and she said after numerous attempts she never received video footage. Dear City Fitness management, me and other members of the club are asking, why are you taking money monthly but you are unable to keep everyone safe? Manager Coe, people's stuff being stolen under your watch! For new people who are just planning to join. Think before joining! For the past year that I was a member, we had constantly new faces working at the reception, and I believe we have 4th new manager. I don't like to make assumptions, but if you are being so irresponsible (even not responding to the city authorities on time, are you covering something?) Again, me and other members kindly asking, why does this person who stole my credit card keeps coming to the gym? Maybe you should do something about it?
