I feel very lucky that Philly has a gym like City Fitness - extremely high quality, included classes, multiple locations, and a reasonable price.Compared to the strip mall gyms (hi, Planet Fitness), the fees for City Fitness seem high. But I can say, sincerely, that CF does everything you need a gym to do.Great equipment. Well maintained. Almost overly friendly staff (and sincerely, not just an act). Lots of great classes included with membership. Multiple locations around the city. The outdoor gym for COVID-times? Just a cherry on top of a fantastic experience.I've made close friends through City Fitness, which is something few friends that go to cheaper gyms can even fathom. Many people reading the reviews are looking for "what's the price" City Fitness and while I can't answer that (get in early and lock in your fee!) I will say that freezing or cancelling memberships is not the labyrinthine, almost criminal, series of steps that unscrupulous gyms use.tl;dr - You want to join a gym in Philly and want high quality? Go to City Fitness.

Warning!I signed up for this gym leaving planet fitness because it’s closer to my place. I was promised this awesome gym with a sauna. Turns out the sauna is not open with covid. I get tricking the customer is a part of sales (especially this type of gym) , but I never would have signed up knowing the sauna is closed. Don’t advertise it, if it’s not available.I then reached out to the guy who signed me up saying this is not what I signed up for. He forwarded me to someone else who gets paid to not be helpful. Place feels grimy. I also thought they put me on the inactive list, they charge you 1$ a month to not use their gym, but after checking my account I’ve been getting charged the full amount every month.Doing this to people in a pandemic?I would rather go to Edge, or planet fitness and save 60$ a month and get a respectable gym

I love City Fitness Grad Hospital! I first joined CF about three years ago at East Market as a founding member. Since then, I've been to multiple locations and tried an assortment of their programs. Overall, I have had a really positive experience with the CF facilities and their staff members and I have really appreciated their COVID response. While I have not done Thrive training at Grad Hospital, I was a thrive member at East Market. The program is great if you need more motivation or help with ideas for your workouts, but it isn't cheap. It's only semi-private training so it's likely there will be other people in your classes. A lot of people become friends through the program, so if you're new to the city it's a great way to meet people!I primarily use my CF membership to attend classes. You sign up for them through their app, and each class registration opens 25 hours before the class start time. Some classes fill quickly, so I have alarms set to remind myself to sign up for BodyPump. The regularly weekday BodyPump trainer Michelle is a great trainer, but she's very tough so be ready to work! Carrie does a BodyPump express on Friday mornings and that's one of my favorites. Ted's Saturday morning class is another favorite of mine, he offers a lot of modifications and is very open to feedback and requests. Beyond BodyPump, there are so many awesome Yoga instructors at CF. The Yoga studio is downstairs and there are cubbies across the hall so you can leave your items. I'm also a fan of the Phit Body classes. They aren't easy, but they combine cardio and strength for a great full body workout. The facilities are always very clean and well maintained. The only time I've seen "out of order" signs on equipment has been for social distancing purposes. The women's locker room is downstairs and nice too! Quite a few showers and lots of lockers. It's not as big as the locker rooms at other CF facilities so I could imagine it would be tricky to get a locker when the gym is busier. There are always clean towels and plenty of wipes for cleaning equipment. This location also has a nice smoothie bar and the hydro massage chairs. The staff is SO friendly! I often pass employees in the neighborhood (outside of the gym) and they still say hello! It's nice to feel so welcome at the gym because I am easily discouraged from working out.If you're considering CF, I would absolutely recommend you check them out!

Lots of great classes and equipment. Scheduling with the app and website means it's never too busy to get a quality workout in. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Membership folks (especially Theresa) are excellent.

I used to belong here, I am at the Fishtown location now. The graduate hospital location is big, plenty of cardio machines, big free weight area, and an indoor training area with turf, ropes, and a bag. I miss this location. It was an enjoyable gym

I was out walking my dog and stopped in to inquire about pricing. As soon as I stepped in the door I was yelled at by the clerk at the front desk to stop and ordered to stay where I was. Seriously... you are literally next door to a dog store... Did you think she was a bigger health risk that the people inside?? I will take my business elsewhere!

Ignore all the old reviews. I have been a member since August, workout 6 times a week and never faced a problem. It’s truly worth $80/month with a year contract. The staff are the nicest from front desk to daily trainers. Equipments are high end, well maintained and cleaned daily. It’s the perfect environment to relax from a stressful work day or pull an intense training session. Worth every penny!
