Top Game Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

I was in an ugly divorce and custody battle with my son's mom. My son's mother would only take him to practice if I agreed to pay ALL of the lessons for a year UPFRONT. I paid the YEAR of lessons UPFRONT. In February I was awarded full custody and my son moved to Colorado with me. Chris at Top Game told me he wouldn't refund me for the unused lessons (9 mos worth).These guys know what they're doing as far as Jujitsu but, I'll never get past the utter lack of integrity.

I trained here for 2 years. Chris is a phenomenal professor. He has a true passion and respect for martial arts. He makes you feel very comfortable from the moment you walk in. His teaching is top tier no matter if you’re a beginner or advanced. I would recommend this place to anyone living in the Richmond area as well as anyone visiting.

I was in Richmond for 3 weeks and was so happy to get to train at such a great school. Chris is a very adept teacher and is on the mats rolling with everyone, every class. I am a BJJ black belt with many years of experience and I learned something new every class – I definitely took away very useful knowledge! Chris creates a safe, welcoming and professional environment – plenty of sweating and smiling every time. Whenever I am back in Richmond, I will be back on the mats with Chris.

Chris, the owner & lead instructor, is warm and friendly and the academy has a culture of relaxed comradery, but the training is intense (in the best of ways). The class sizes are small so there's lots of opportunity to learn and ask questions and despite being an absolute beginner, guys of all belt colors are generously willing to roll with me and give me pointers. I've learned a lot in the first two weeks and have a feeling I'm going to spending a lot of time training with these guys in the months and years to come.

I've been training at Top Game for about a year and half at this point. I train in BJJ and Muay Thai/Kickboxing. The level of instruction from Coaches Chris Mahan and Clay is top notch.There are so many positive things it has brought to my quality of life. As a lifelong wrestler and military veteran, the ability to train and compete with a brotherhood and team of dedicated martial artists is very valuable to me. I cherish the camaraderie gained from a great group of people from all walks of life.I recommend anyone who is searching for a healthy lifestyle and legitimate self defense, come train with us!

Been training at Top Game for six years now and I can't say enough good things about this academy. Found this gym while visiting Richmond for work. Professor Chris and his team were very accommodating and friendly. Really competitive rolls! Highly recommend! Guaranteed that I will be coming back when I am in the area.

Just staying with some family in the area and thought I'd try to make it to a gym a few times while I was in the area. Sent Chris an email a few days in advance and went by today! First experience traveling and showing up to a gym was a fantastic experience. Went over a few things and rolled with some people. First of all I could tell that the people I rolled with knew their stuff! Everyone was super friendly! Chris is an awesome instructor! If I lived in Richmond I wouldn't think twice about training here!

Fantastic school. Chris is an amazing instructor, and the atmosphere is inviting yet competitive. I was a transplant, training here for 6 months, and had a blast with the high level of experience and belts. Highly recommend!
