Crunch Fitness - University Square, based in San Diego, has a variety of machines for cardio and weights in the gym. The gym is extremely clean and well-maintained, thanks to diligent service staff. People appreciate the affordability of the services. However, some customers deem it as a busy gym opener that primarily caters to a young, college demographic with complaints of lack of organisation and unhygienic conditions due to unracked weights. The business operates within a designated time frame and isn't 24/7 operational.

Though it offers a lucrative pricing structure and friendly staff, there are frequent instances of broken machines. Several customers have expressed dissatisfaction over the gym's policy of allowing patrons to film their workouts, causing unnecessary distractions. Apart from the lack of sufficient benches and dumbbells, the gym has also been criticised for its complex membership cancellation procedures. A few have commended the water refill station at the gym for its convenience.

Pros:

  • Operates within a designated time frame.
  • Gym is clean and well-maintained.
  • Presence of a water refill station.
  • Offers an excellent selection of machines for cardio and weights.

  • Staff is generally friendly.
  • Gym is highly popular and widely used.
  • Generous in size.
  • Has been in operation for quite a few years.

  • Complaints about complex membership cancellation process.
  • Adequate number of dumbbells and benches not available.
  • Filming is allowed in the gym causing distractions.

The worst gym I've ever gone. The machines always broken. The stuff is careless. In order to cancel membership you have to go through paperwork which is very inconvenient if you value your time. Glad that I change it for 24 hour fitness. Save your time and money and go to a different place.

The 2 stars are for Brittney and her staff. the gym i The Gym it's self is a mess. from no a full set of dumbbells to only 2 benches 1 decline and 1 incline. If you don't get there before 3 you will have to wait, High School kids come in thinking it's 6th period gym class and stand around in groups of 4 or more and slap box sit on balls or row machines, take over the cable machine and have no respect for boundaries. I believe The staff is being handcuff by owner, and will tell you the new equipment will be coming but i don't think he wants to spend the money. I have been told new dumbbells have been coming for well over a year. Has cut hours on weekends and raised price. There are better place few miles away that cost less and have a ton of equipment. Hint they are open 24 hours a day.

This is a spacious, clean gym. I have never felt more welcomed. A great staff, and great fitness environment! Not to mention it is incredibly affordable.

Let me start off by saying that this gym is in a college area. The majority of the attendees are young college students. With that, you'll see correlated issues like cleanliness, unorganized weights that are unracked, lots of tripods, etc.The biggest issue in this gym is the mess of the free weights. Dumbbells and plates alike. Trying to find a pair of matching dumbbells is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. There'll be times where you have to dig a 45lbs plate out of a stack of 25lbs, 35lbs, and 10lbs plates. Its unreasonable to expect staff to patrol the floor and instruct fully grown adults to rerack their weights. My suggestion is to whip out a label maker and put weight markings in the appropriate place so the crowd can at least have a sense of where the weights are supposed to go.The highlight of this gym? The water refill station. It's pretty convenient. Wish more gyms had that.

Great place to work out at, only thing is... MAKE HOURS LONGER. I need a gym that is open 24 Hours or even until like 12AM-3AM. There's a Planet Fitness in Escondido that is 24 Hours, BUT IT'S IN ESCONDIDO. I live like 5 minutes from this gym, need longer hours! Thank you.🙃 …

I applied online for the free three day pass and received a confirmation email for the pass. However, when I went to Crunch fitness (Mo Mo) at the front desk refused to let me try out the facility and kicked me out. I was really excited to get a membership here after the trial but I am definitely going somewhere else.

My husband goes to this gym. Right down the hill from us. Really popular gym. Whenever I call him while he's there, the music can be heard in the background, and it's standard gym-type music. My husband seems to like this gym and has been going to it for close to four years now. I'm not sure exactly what his reasoning is but he's a big gym guy, so if he likes it then they must be doing something right

This gym is really only good for treadmill use, since anything else is being hogged by people making videos. Filming is apparently allowed at this gym.The staff here are standoffish at best, rude at worst, especially the male staff. It took over 40 minutes for me to sign up for a membership because the staff helping me kept ignoring me during the sign up to talk to other patrons. 8t wasn't just to greet them with a "Hi, welcome!" But the staff was having full on conversations, and would roll his eyes, or scoff when I would try to keep the sign up going.I've learned to just not approach the staff, especially the male staff, cause I'll just be ignored for another patron, or talked to rudely.I thought maybe I was just being paranoid, but I've managed to make some friends at this gym who have seen how poorly the staff here have treated me.The only time I've ever been treated kindly by a staff was on the phone when calling to cancel, she has a bright, bubbly voice, was super kind and helpful, and somehow she managed to convince me to try it out for another month. So I guess here's to trying it out for another month 😮‍💨

They have the audacity to increase the fees by 25 percent with one month notice. All equipment broken. They have one squat machine and some teenagers are on it for hours. This is why crunch should enforce certain rules on franchisees to upkeep their reputation. Can’t wait till I cancel my membership
