American Barbell Clubs, located at 1887 Monterey Hwy STE 100, San Jose, CA 95112, offers a comprehensive range of fitness equipment and a classic gym atmosphere. Gym is so sick. The machines there are the best there is. Even when its busy, there is still a lot of machines left open.

Pros: Has every machine I could ever want and is fairly cheap. Even during peak hours I rarely have to wait for machines.Cons: Downstairs toilets are gross and most of the upstairs mens faucets are broken.I don't mind too much, but I wouldnt recommend number 2 here.

Basically same issue with last 1 star. They wanted to charge 30% member fees while providing no services.I signed up Nov 1st was charged 1 month fees, and the annual fee which was a lot. So basically 2 weeks of membership for over 100$ then they closed and kept the annual fee as well as proceeded to charge me 30% fees while closed. They made me cancel since I wouldn't give them fees during closure so now I have a rate hike, and annual fee all over again just because I wouldn't give them more free money which I already did.Basically the owner does not care about his customers.

I had been a loyal customer at Gold's then American Barbell for many years. NO MORE. It is completely unsafe to wear a mask during rigorous exercise. READ the science. Too bad, yet another business will go under because of the biggest LIE in American history! Good riddens!

Really good gym with a classic vibe but not too overcrowded like 24. Plenty of free weights and machines, clean locker rooms. Best to come during work hours or after 9pm.

Nothing fancy but had everything I needed to get in a great workout. They also kept it super simple for an "out of country" drop in. Just took my money and let me get my work out in. . . just the way it should be. Had to wait a bit to get a cage but patrons were courteous and made it a great work out experience.

This is one of the best gyms that I’ve been to in San Jose. One recommendation to the owner would be add ab machines in the chest and shoulder area. Walking to and from the ab machines while doing bench. Suggestion to people, don’t spend your money thinking your going to get points for rewards. I’ve spent quit a bit of money on gear and have only seen checkin points. Hopefully leadership can train clerks to properly add points for purchases.

This gym doesn’t have the “wow” factor, but it’s decent. It’s not crowded before 8 AM, which is the preferred time. If you go after 6, good luck. I’ve spoken to the manager John about the mirrors needing attention (spit) and he was sure to notify the maintenance. You can find several workout cardio machines out of service, and the floor in the exercise/yoga room could use new floors and ceiling.

It feels like a damn sauna in here. To the owner, please turn the AC on higher! That's my only complaint. Maybe extend the hours just a bit..Update: I came in today and it was pretty cool.. 5 stars
