Best climbing gym in OC! It's getting super busy lately. Their expansion should be completed soon so that should be awesome.

Iam wrting to necessite the urgent need to change the gym bouldering flooring materials. On the 22nd day of December 2017 I had an unfortunate accident while i was bouldering in Sender one gym. I fell down from a small distant on the floor ( which was surprisingly SO HARD) and devoloped a comminuted (multiple fragmented) fracture in multiple bones namely the tibia, medial malleolus and fibula in the right leg. I am a healthy 26 year old female who has normal bones (not affected by any metabolic disease). They had to perform an urgent surgery that cost tons of money, inserting a long plate almost the length of my leg by making 5 surgical scars to fixate the plate with 12 screws.I was hospitalized for days without the ability to move took a lot of pain medication. Doctors had to change my pain medication several times due to the unresponsiveness.I came as a visitor to conducat certain interview in some University. This incident made me to cancel my flights in order to avoid further complication such as Deep Venous Thrombosis or excruciating leg pain. It cost me alot financially, emotionally, psychologicaly and most importantly my career. The flooring materials MUST be changed . Because SIMPLY nobody deserves to SUFFER like me. From such a HARD flooring materials fractures of the Skull or spinal column may cause perminant disabilities or even DEATH.It should be noted that I was bouldering and falling in several gyms nothing major happened to me, but unfortunately from the first fall in this gym this devestating injury occured.Having no family or friends in here my Sister had to fly from England to take care of me. Because Iam unable to bare weight on my injured leg for 3 months.Injuries like that can happen to anyone please be careful on yourselves and beloved ones. They toss you out of their gym once you are injured regardless how sever it is with or without an ambulance. As if you are a broken tool or equipment . Simply cause you signed their waivers.

Big gym that changes routes often. A bit expensive but that's expected for a climbing gym. Staff is always friendly. They take care of the equipment they rent out.

Total good time for the kiddos. I've watched my sons grow in confidence with each visit. Fun for parents too - you can climb in the kids area with them.

Best climb gym in the area and it's not even close. Some people complain of the pricing, but you get what you pay for. You can get from point A to point B in a Nissan Sentra or you can pay for more features and travel in a Tesla. Sender One is the Tesla of climb gyms in OC. It has the best walls, largest square footage, and best kids area. Yoga and fitness center access is included. If you're happy climbing on smaller walls with less diverse routes/problems, there are cheaper alternatives in OC. I'd rather pay a couple extra $ to get the most out of my time at a climb gym. Also, if you google the best climb gyms in the country, Sender One is the only gym in California that consistently makes the top list of every national blog/publication. I wish they'd build a Sender One in the Phoenix area where I live. There are tons of empty big boxes from bankrupt retailers like Sport Authority, Circuit City, etc. Just sayin'.

Just tried to go climb for the first time today, no complaints on the staff just for management. Ive been to a few climbing gyms before and everyone I have visited doesn't require you to tie your own Knott's. I'm not complaining about that I actually kind of enjoy it and I see it reduces your liability but you need to offer some sort of class after intro class hours end. I arrived at 8:30 which was too late to get into an intro class and I had already payed and been set up(was fully refunded btw thank you) but the problem was my sister and I enjoy top rope and we have always used carabiners. So instead of offering to certify me I basically just get turned away after planning my night around this. The solution I request so it doesn't happen to someone else is to offer a short cert. I'd have payed $10 to get a certification and a short 15 minute course to tie Knott's to your spec. They don't seem too difficult and I'm sure it doesn't take up much of the intro course hour that you normally require. I will sign up and come back, but it would be nice to be able to have that as an option for those of us used to other gyms. Luckily, my neighbor happens to be a rock climbing expert and is going to show me how to tie anything I was required to know without paying for your into course.

Sender is the best gym in the area without question. If you're just getting in to climbing, this place will quickly become an addiction. If you're already an experienced climber, you'll recognize the height and diversity of the walls as a step above. But most importantly, if you come often, you'll appreciate the frequent and high quality route setting that always keeps it fresh. You should go.
