My nephew, niece and I have been training at Gracie Barra Schaumburg for about 10 months and we have all been having a blast learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I had trained at various other Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms before coming to Gracie Barra in Schaumburg and this academy is by far my favorite. The instruction is awesome, the facility is clean, and the students and coaches are extremely friendly and welcoming. The kid’s classes are always fun and engaging and both my niece and nephew absolutely love it. Many times the children don’t even realize they are learning a martial art as it is all being taught in a fun yet constructive manner. It’s incredible watching them leave with a big smile on their face.In the adults class, the environment is very welcoming to newcomers and beginners especially those who have never done a martial art before. The attention to detail provided by Professor Jason (our black belt head instructor) and the rest of coaching staff is second to none. The best feature of this gym however, is how friendly all the students are; everyone is always very willing to help out a new student with technique or help out a veteran drill a specific technique. If you are looking for a place to get a great work out in, learn a self-defense, and get fit all whilst having fun, then I highly recommend checking out Gracie Barra Schaumburg.

Been training there for the 8 months. I really like the instructor and facility. In my opinion it is the best option for anyone looking to learn BJJ. Very clean, friendly people, and great location! I would recommend anyone thinking about signing up come in for the free first lesson, after that you will know all you need to! Definitely sets the bar for all other schools to follow!

Great place in the northwest suburbs in train for BJJ. The head instructor Prof Jason Mathew loves to teach and helps everyone understand techniques. He is humble...I have seen other black belts feel that they are too good to teach newbies but this is not the case with Jason. Higher belt students also help out lower belts (again not always the case with all schools). The facility is very nice. There are locker rooms and showers and mats are cleaned daily. Classes are available 6 days a week including noon classes so you can almost always find time to train. Been here for well over a year and I recommend anyone with an interest in martial arts or just getting in shape to check it out.

My son has been going to Gracie Barra for over a year now. He is in kindergarten, and is helping me write this review. He says, "I like doing the techniques and all the exercises. It is really good exercise for staying healthy and strong. The kids are all really nice and Professor Jason and all the coaches are nice, too. I want to keep training and learning more jiu jitsu and I love Gracie Barra!"I agree with him - Gracie Barra has been an awesome place for him to grow and develop self confidence as well as stay physically fit and active. Every time he goes to class, he gets GREAT exercise, and has fun while he is doing it. I hope the great fitness habits he is learning at Gracie Barra stay with him as he grows!

Been with Gracie Barra for almost three months and I have nothing but good things to say about their program! The training my kids are doing here is helping them grow and articulate what they are feeling and or trying to do without being super aggressive towards one another. It has helped them focus in school and become more active it's not all about video games any more which makes me super happy.I give this to the professor's there they are so involved in helping the kids develop and form lasting relationships it's great to see how our kids are talking and joining in on conversations and making friends. Getting the kids involved in BJJ at Gracie Barra is one of the best decisions we have made I look forward to see how far they will grow and learn here.

My husband has been taking classes at Gracie Barra in Schaumburg for almost a year now. It has definitely help him on improving his health, now he is more active, his weight is under control and also his mood is better! .What i like about this location is that is more than just a classroom, is a place where not only you but also your kids can train, they also care about not only involving the person taking classes, but also the student's close family and friends. They have"open mat" classes, teachers are very good and in general everybody is nice and friendly and the place is clean and in a great location.

I enrolled my 8 year old for the trial class and he liked it so much that I converted into a regular membership within two weeks. The classes are well structured with warm ups, explanation of the basics followed by demo and practice. The instructors are nice and ensure all kids get a turn to lead the class in warm ups, demo etc so that their confidence builds up. Instructors encourage the kids and also ensure there is good discipline. The kids are also taught to treat others with respect. My son loves the class and likes his instructors very much. We are happy that we chose Gracie Barra Martial Arts Schaumburg.

I've been to a few MMA/BJJ schools around here and Gracie Barra is really good. Coming in with a bad knee, the instructor understood I had limitations and didn't force me to do some drills that other schools would have me do. If you come from a no-gi background, using a gi at first will seem weird but you'll quickly get used to it. The other people who train at Gracie Barra are friendly and there is a lot of respect. I'd recommend trying out a free class and seeing how Gracie Barra Schaumburg is.

I have had nothing but good experiences at GB Schaumburg in my six months as a student. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and a good learning environment. The classes are well structured, and even someone with an athletic background will get a good workout in during a class. The owner was also very accommodating for a non-BJJ related injury that will keep me out for some time.
