The welcoming and professional staff consistently receive positive feedback for their friendly demeanor. This Y is noted for its cleanliness and community-oriented atmosphere.

My daughter is apart of the dance program. I wouldn't advise minorities to bring their children here. They routinely do not acknowledge their minority dancers, they play favorites/ nepotism, have told black students they're too fat or slow, has been picked on by white students, unnecessarily singled out by the directors, some of these experiences apply to my own child. My child has been there since she was 5 an has been held back, not allowed to advance on account of age range but they'll make special exemptions for non minority students to advance. Which encourages lack of interest im sure that's the goal. Every year an throughout the year dance teachers come an go. It's a shame there are no other affordable dance academies locally.

It is impossible to keep momentum with the gym packed with senior citizens using the equipment as rocking chairs. Sometimes the machines aren't even engaged on but they seat and go on "pretending" that their are working out. Meanwhile, there a couple of floor assistant that I have never saw assisting anybody unless they are paying for personal trainer services. Sometimes is painful to watch a senior person struggling on doing wrongly exercises. Many times I had to interfere before somebody get hurt. If you have the whole day to get to 4 machines and you are there only for socialize, it is the right gym for you.

One of the best gyms in St. Petersburg. The people were always helpful, the gym equipment is all new and it ranges in variety. Specialized machines are plentiful. There's always a consistent sterile smell in this YMCA, which is reassuring. Showers and locker rooms are available as long as you bring your own lock for the lockers. Theres a nice bouldering wall (rock climbing). My only issue with the place is the temperature is far too cold and that any broken machine will likely stay broken for a few months.

The YMCA organization is wonderful here in Florida. You can purchase a membership that allows you to go to any one of their reciprocating facilities. I have been to a few. This one is fabulous. It is a massive facility with slamming zumba classes (Javier) a rock climbing wall and state of the art workout spaces (spinning and weights). Babies come through the door all dressed up in tutu's ready for class. Their is an outdoor soccer field. This YMCA exudes healthy community engagement. The staff was happy and proud of their facility (volunteering to show you around). Their large well maintained bathrooms are big enough for a parent/care giver to sit in a chair next to their child in the shower. I can't say enough...I loved it! Thank you Jim and Heather Gill.

Been coming here for months. I am a US veteran. Going through back surgeries. Full time student SPC. I spend many hours here, listening to the staff gossip about members. The young ladies behind the desk I must ask. Where does this behavior for into the motto and beliefs of the YMCA? Sad i hear what you have said about me personally and i am offended. Why not ask, talk to a person, find out about them.

Came here with my friend who is working out. While waiting, I decided to look around. I barely walked past the desk and I was told I was not allowed to and had to wait seated in the lobby. All I wanted to do was look through the windows to see what kind of weight equipment they had to see if it was worth joining. It would take me a total of 30 seconds. No. I don't want a tour. I just wanted to look through the window at the equipment.

Great place to work out, always clean, and well staffed, never had a problem with any of the staff, they are always helpful, and polite to me. Just The pool, and the sauna are worth the money , the parking lot is huge with plenty of parking,

I come here with my client every weekend. The staff is horrible! They're so rude. No one smiles.. No one talks to you.. They sit there and talk to each other. I was thinking about getting a membership here but now im not because of that. I worked in customer service all my life and I was very disappointed at the fact no one has ANY great customer service skills.. Plus i asked them to refill the coffee TWICE. Only reason why i come, because i have to..

Fantastic facility that is usually busy and well maintained. The male individual who works at the front desk is the most absurd and derogatory employee I’ve ever met. He’s rude. He doesn’t really like his job. When I signed up, he was complaining about working holiday shifts. Today was the last straw. I will still use my membership but new members and current leaders need to be aware of the cruel man that works at the front desk. He needs to reconsider his career.

I called a day prior to inquire about playing pickleball and I explained that I was visiting from another city. The person I spoke with informed me that pickleball was played at 7:30 a.m. on Wed & Fri and for me to only to bring in an id and they allowed 14 guest visits. Well, I showed up at 7:20 and explained to the white male at the desk that I was there to play pickleball & I had spoken to someone the day prior and told me I would have 14 guest visits. He asked if I was a member of YMCA and I told him I was not. He said it was policy to be a member and I was not allowed to play. The person on the phone didn't ask about membership, she just said to come in. Had I known anything about membership, I would not have wasted my time and gas driving over there.I asked about a military discount as I am retired military with 23 years service. He mentioned something about waiving the fee, but didn't add anything further. When he was talking to me, he had a rude demeanor as he was typing on his computer, didn't apologize for me wasting my time, hardly any eye contact, like I was infringing on his day. Later found out he was the manager....what a poor example of customer service to set. For the reviewer who said the workers don't smile there.... It begins at the top...if leadership isn't smiling, no one else is. Like it was said in 'Remember the Titans'...."attitude reflects leadership"From the feedback from reviews, they claim to address the customer service issues and unfriendly attitudes. Apparently, nothing has changed.
