When personally making the decision to begin training in boxing, it all started with a simple phone call from Coach Joe Stray after checking out local boxing gyms and filling out inquire forms, Coach Joe reached out personally with a phone call to follow up and ask me about my goals in the sport. which to me spoke volumes on his commitment and passion to growing the sport and becoming personable with his athletes, helping us reach our personal fitness/ competitive goals. Sense beginning training with Joe I have fallen more and more In love with the sport of boxing, Coach Joes passion for the sport shows as he displays great knowledge and energy in each training session. I look forward to coming in to train each session with a energetic “ what’s up seaaaan” at the door each time I walk in and get ready to put the gloves on! If you are someone who is looking to start a fitness/ boxing journey, do it with COACH JOE STRAY , you won’t regret making that decision! “ one day, or day one!? “

I just started training with Coach Joe Stray and I absolutely love it. The 15 round style workout is awesome and he is extremely knowledgeable on boxing. I feel like I’m already 10 times the boxer I was before I came to him, and I only have trained once with him! I will be working with him for a long time I feel.

Joe's a Great coach to work with! always keeps you moving and active with room for flexibility. scheduling is also very flexible to keep up with a busy routine if needed! Highly Recommended!Edit 8/23/2020:Seems that i have to edit my review after multiple 1 on 1 sessions because i was asked to post the first. during training coach is knowledgeable and can be very helpful in helping people learn the sport, if you can catch him in a good mood. my last session i was shadowboxing in the ring to warmup and i was throwing light punches to work on my distance and timing, coach proceeded to berate on me for hitting the corners of the ring and kicked me out the the basketball court across the hall. at which point i headed towards the court to continue shadowboxing without the ring. coach then proceeded to throw my bag and shove me towards the court. after which he proceeded to kick me out because i "wasnt listening". i left and after paying for 4 sessions via venmo and only completing two, i asked to go our seperate ways and be paid the half for a refund, joe promptly refused and when i tried to request via venmo i accidentally sent more money instead and was told "oh well" by coach joe. i will edit this post if the money ever gets returned. update: had to call venmo customer service to resolve and retrieve my money as Coach joe decided to block me on all social media in an attempt to keep the funds.

Coach Joe Stray has been working with me on and off over the past year. Even though I need to improve more, I have more confidence now than I did on day one. He works with all skill levels, beginner to advanced. He puts you through your paces, but only because he wants to see you improve both physically and mentally. I would recommend this coach to anyone. Jim Clarke

I love the location and the gym atmosphere. Coach Joe Stray is very passionate and puts his all into every moment of your time there. He breaks things down as he teaches them, so that you fully understand the what and why of everything. Definitely somewhere to consider if you are trying to learn the art of boxing or looking to get an amazing workout.

The atmosphere of the gym is astonishing, great equipment and it has that old school boxing gym feel to it. The personal sessions are the best you will see improvements within days. Coach Joe trains you to be a smart and great boxer, he's great at tailoring drills to your style and has a very flexible schedule. From when i started to now iv'e improved so much and i am a lot more comfortable in my boxing ability. Overall best Coaching iv'e ever had and the atmosphere is awesome.

Remarkable opportunity to be trained by Joe at Syracuse Boxing Club!My experience level in boxing was watching all the Rocky and Creed movies. Needless to say, I was a little apprehensive about jumping into boxing as a true beginner. I was getting bored of just lifting weights at the gym and getting on the treadmill like a caged hamster. I decided to give Joe a call and set up my first boxing session. I was blown away by Joe's approach to someone without any experience, his attention to detail, and his training regimen for me. The workout was phenomenal, and the time flew by. I will be a regular customer with Joe.I absolutely recommend you give Joe a call and schedule your first of many sessions with him.

Joe is a wealth of knowledge in this sport 🥊His teaching, technique and mentoring are top notch. Coach Joe is very patient and works with each student individually. This is no cookie cutter programming. You will consistently make gains and be better than you were when you walked in the door just an hour before. So glad we found this place!!
